crashed... and repaired..but always tail not as firm n solid like before
I crashed my trex500 .. logo500 and i cant get back the tail like before ( new heli)
When spool up.. the heli will have slight wagging or shaking or trembling very mild.. before the crash... Both heli tail were rock solid. I just dont know where does the problem came from..and how to get back to origibnal rock solid firm tail.

The servo became quite warm.. after a flight..
my trex500 servo became hot after a flight

Before that there's no heat at all ...

Anyone have this problem before?

What is the tail doing? Does it seem like a gain problem or mechanical? What tail servo and gyro?

The servo heat is probably from being over worked. Are the tail bearings new. Do the grips rotate smoothly. Check for binding in the linkages and pushrod. Besure the tail limits are right.

If those things don't fix it then I would look at the tail servo. Also another thing is and I am assuming you are running the vbar check the tail pulse width setting in the tail setup. Usually if it is wrong the servo won't work but who knows maybe it is an exeption. Doesn't take that much to look but if the servo gets hot then if all the sliders are smooth and work free like the guy above said to check I would suspect that some damage was done to the servo. Oh and when you are checking the bearings make sure the thrust bearings are in the tail grips right. The race with the little bit bigger hole goes closest to the shaft. If that is wrong it will be free sitting there but bind when spinning. I about forgot about thatTeam Jr

I would look real closly at the grip berrings like said...they are very soft. It dosent take much to destroy them.Team Futaba

I would replace the main shaft bearings... I just could not get rid of a tail wag problem until I did this.

Make sure the main and feathering shafts are absolutely straight. Roll them on glass.

Second what everyone else said, too!

I think you are looking for one of two things: Binding in the control setup or vibration. And its hard to say which it is.

If the servo temp is much hotter something is making it work harder. That could be one of the two mentioned above.

Depending on how bad your crash was there are likely 4 shafts that need to be replaced. Consider replacing the main mast, spindle, tail rotor output shaft and tail hub.

Having replaced these you're looking for binding in the control linkage. As others pointed out damaged thrust bearings in the tail grips will cause problems when the tail blades spool up.

Just a few thoughts,

Bill

hi all thanks for all helps

i am running mini v, BL251 servo ( gears changed , as the gear stripped during a crash replaced with original futaba )..heli been about 50 flights before crashed
Pulse setup n limit i think its all pretty standard.

i upgraded the whole tail to new 550sx tail. Bearing wise i think its 100% new

main shaft checked, spindle checked

the tail has very light wag, but i just not happy to see my heli became like that from a rock solid tail and i spent a few hundred to upgrade into a 550sx

there's no binding at all , logo tail is very easy and straight forward.
heli still can fly 3D

one thing is maybe shud be main shaft bearings ? but even though a main shaft bearing, will it make the servo quite warm ?

You could be looking for a vibration cause... when I replaced main bearings on my 450... my tail problems disappeared. It is easy sitting here telling you to replace this, replace that. No money or time involved. I have been down this road before.

You can't see it, you can't feel it, but only the Gyro (shadow) knows!

You can make sure your blade track is good before taking things apart.

I always do a fresh setup on tail after crash , change servo arm and track tail mechanically . Sometimes tail linkage will not be the same and servo will overwork to hold . Make sure the hard parts are good and straight and if in doubt replace .I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)
