AR7200BX / AR7300BX & Nitro models
I like Spektrum equipment.
I like MicroBeast.
I fly fbl.
I wish I could find some chatter about these units, "with nitro helicopters"

Sometimes, no chatter is a good thing. In this case it probably means they are well understood and working well for those that fly them.

Understood. On the other hand, it could be an indication that not many pilots are using them, & or they're not working out so good for the guys flying nitro models & want the governor feature. At any rate... I think I'll try one out on my next heli...

Can you mount AR7200bx on an angle?
Just wondering if it's okay to mount the BX to the front of a TREX 700n which is on an approx. 45 degree ramp angle.

I assume it is okay as it would "see" it as level during power up/initialization.

Nosireebob. Nope. Once it's airborne, there is no "level" ground reference. And since the yaw axis is at some weird angle with reference to the heli's yaw axis, it would make for some crazy tail rotor control.

"Level" has no meaning here, and does not enter into how the sensor and gyro operate.

Remember it is a three-axis gyro. One axis needs to be able to sense rotation about the yaw axis (rudder), the roll axis (aileron), and the pitch axis (elevator).

Mount the FBL controller at some arbitrary angle, all three of those are no longer seeing "pure" inputs, but a combination thereof.

Page 7, AR7200BX manual:
The AR7200BX can be attached flat, upright or inverted under the helicopter. The servo connector pins must always point toward the
front or rear of the helicopter. Make sure the edges of
the AR7200BX are all parallel with the corresponding
axes of the helicopter.

Thanks a million for that response! You may have saved me a heli during it's first test flight. I will mount it as you have stated!

I have 4 of them; 3 on nitro ( 1x91, 1x105, 1x55) and 1 on electric (Blade 450x).

I updated them and use the governor feature on the nitro models. The BeastX and AR7200BX are superb units, simple to set up, great piro compensation, reliable and adaptable to all manner of flying styles.

I'm not sure that they are readily beaten by anything else out there - I've flown: Skookum, Align, VBar, Ace (TT), Ikon, Beastx, Spartan, KDS, and while the style may differ between them, I like the BeastX/AR7200BX for the simplicity and performance.

Mind you, when I fly the other units, I get familiar with them too and they become my favorites!

Overall, you won't be disappointed in them on nitro models - just don't use the foam tape that comes with them - buy some 3M tape and use that.

Thanks.

Per above... I thought the BX came with 3m tape but I will make sure to get some.

Also, I will be taking the 7200BX off of my TREX 500 and putting it on my 700n because it is tried and true to me.

I will then putting my first Blue Vbar on my trex 500 to learn and test it out.

Any advice, tips, or tricks, regarding the the Vbar unit???

Bill.

I've found the MicroBeast and AR7200BX like to be fairly hard mounted as they are fairly weighty with their metal base. Don't use the thick white pad (if they still come with it?)! The thin grey pad is best.60% of the time, it works every time!
