I load some very light 185 grain semi wad cutters for my XDS 45. Shoots them great with no hiccups.

It just so happens i have a bottle of unique. According the chart it definitely is a light load... Good to know that it will cycle the gun. Many thanks.

I did a little experimenting with light loads this weekend. I did not bring my chrono out but according to the data sheets i was down to a smidge over 700 feet per second using 3.6 grains of Trailboss behind a 200 grain 45cal plated plinker

It ran great, extreemly soft, kind of a mouse fart load. Smooth as silk, and on target.... a completely different gun than the one i had last week.

I read a little on reduced load projectiles. They suggest using a cheap flat point projectile rather than a hollow point for lighter loads. Much more effective than round nose projectiles.

I like the flat point bullets for target practice but my friends 1911 doesn't. The FP bullet just doesn't play well in some semiauto actions

Summer project!

I picked up an old UZI SMG de-milled parts kit. Full auto, Isreali markings.... Some likelyhood it has a history of plugging terrorists... Pretty cool. These things are amazingly fun to shoot in full auto mode. Glock? No thanks!

Unfortunately Uncle Sammy gets pissy whenever i want to have some real fun, so this is destined to become a semi auto SBR. Still, it is quite facinating to be going thru the history, finding parts, welding and grinding....

I got that one from Numric. Atlantic arms and D and D sales in Tucson has a pretty decent stock of reproduction receivers and parts. There are a few others on line.

Looks like the trouble spot is getting the 9mm semi bolts. Hard to find at the moment. The 45 ACP part versions are available, but of course i already have a 9mm barrel and mags... (Sigh) I found an actual UZI semi bolt assembly, optimal thing to get, but pricey. The actual cost can add up fast. Starts aproaching buying a new Vector UZI ( a pretty respectable US made version )...
