I don't think the most sucessful black types do enough to pull EVERYONE up with them. They seem to run and never look back. Maybe I'm wrong in that assessment.
Well, I suspect you are.
Here is why, and I am speaking in general terms.
Most successful blacks are conservatives. Conservatives always give more to charity than democrats. That is a matter of record you can check for yourself. The reason for that is that democrats feel its the responsibility of the government to give rather than individuals. Conservatives feel just the opposite.
Again, I am speaking in general terms and mean no disrespect.
Oh no Dennis, please, challange me...that's what these types of disscussions are for. No disrespect is taken.

That may be true and like I said, I don't feel that the successful are obligated to help at all, but if you have the means and the influence why wouldn't you? Instead many would rather buy a 24 million dollar mansion with 13 bathrooms for two people and talk about how all other black people are just lazy and make excuses for why their in the position they're in. Talk is cheap.

In the end, words mean nothing. Charles Barkley and the like have their opinions, but some of them are actually part of the problem. In my husband's words"black folks are our own worst enemy." And that's even after some of his bad experiences with racists.

I think he might be on to something.

no, actually I think you are 100% correct. Oprah is a prime example. The other ones that come to mind are Jay-Z and Beyonce'.
Those 2 have directly made millions by promoting some not so savory music etc. in the community with his record label.
Real hard to swallow the "racism" bitching when you're making tens of millions per year.
Like Mayweather the boxer who has made almost 300 million dollars in his career and he claims he would've made much more if he was white..... say what???
I cannot argue with that at all. Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and the like have their millions and do nothing with it except flaunt it. The funny thing is...most of them aren't even real "thugs." Most have college degrees...even Wayne. He's an idiot...but he's got a Bachlors in Commincations and Physcology I believe. So, he's a smart idiot?!? And he's got a skate park on his roof and hangs out with mostly white skater dudes. You wouldn't know it by his music though.

The "thug" image sells, but what they don't see or care about are the young black men who try and emulate those types of life styles. They don't find out that you can't really live that life until they're dead or in jail. By then, it's too late. I think Brown, Trevon, and other young black men found this out at the cost of their lives unfortunately.

If anyone has the means to purchase a 24 million dollar mansion I suspect the last thing they would be thinking about is the black poor guy. And, why should they?

After all, the rich in the USA pay by far the lions share of both fed and state taxes. So, just by that fact, they are already subsidizing the poor in this country and very likely providing jobs for others just by their purchasing power.

Well, as logical as that may be, why shouldn't you? If you rap about how bad the ghetto is and being "down for all your homies"...and then you make millions just so you can buy a $500000 car that you can't even drive that fast..Why not?

Taxes are a b!tch, why not give your self some write-offs instead of more taxes and help your boys out?

And actually think that is a major problem is with the black condition. Hopefully no one takes this wrong, but in general, I see most black folks are more like "lone wolves" and white people have more of a pack or "pride animal" mantality. Black people focus too much on themsleves at a detriment to the whole. White people work better as a group...right or wrong it's done together.

My husband says that if black people genuinely worked better together and stopped blaming everyone else, they'd be far better off. I think he's right.

Can I hug you?? Or your husband???
That has kinda always been my point. Of course there's racism out there and most likely, there always will be...on both sides.
But after awhile, all we hear is bla bla bla...especially when you hear racism getting shouted from multi-millionaires.
Contrary to popular belief, there's lots of really poor white people too.
I commend you for some honest and open comments....

Apparently, we're not so different after all. Believe it or not, there are more black people than you might think that feel exactly the same way. And that's my point.

It's not really about white or black as much as it is about idiots doing stupid things and making everyone look bad. The problem arises when you have black guys like the one who shot those two cops who draw all of the media attention. You get enough of them together (Ferguson rioters)and the whole world makes black people out to be nothing more than crazed animals. Then, the wrong racist types get ahold of it and turn it into something even worse...next thing you know...all blacks are just thugs, drug dealers, and baby-making thieves. Then you get me to jump in on some of those threads and I'm made out be just making excuses and being attacked, labeled, or even "ignored" by some here.

It's good that we can talk it out. That's ultimately what's going to make things better in this country because no matter how you look at it, there is racism. And it seems I just may have a new friend or two and new understanding. Thats what I like.

You asked:
but if you have the means and the influence why wouldn't you?
And answered your own question:
I don't feel that the successful are obligated to help at all
.
There you go, they are not obligated. This is America, where a football player can sign a 120 plus million dollar contract with ~56 million guaranteed and still suck big time. It is his money, and after paying his taxes, he can do whatever he wants with it -including buying a 24 million house or charity. Would you have it any other way? I wouldn't.

God bless America!

Boy LadyMagic, you sure we're quick to call officer Wilson a racist, then when you were called out on it, you circled back around to say you couldn't prove it.

You're no smarter than a Ferguson looter.

Yes, looking it from that stand point yes, but if you look at it from the minority enterprise side where you have all these affluent black people saying how hard it is for black people becuase they didn't get a hand up and then do little...if anything to help the next guy.

Honestly, if I had the means, I would try and do something to help my communtity that will help the community as a whole...not just a few in my "hood" whom I hung out with. You know what I mean?

As already stated, they do that just by paying taxes.

Then, their purchasing power alone helps others.

If they do purchase that 20 million dollar mansion, someone has to build that sucker. Someone has to keep up the landscaping. Someone has to do the maid service. Someone had to build those cars they own. Someone had to build that big old boat they float around in and man it. etc, etc, etc, etc.

Looking at it from the minority perspective, of course, they are going to be envious. The way things are now a days, they are getting out right foolish by claiming the rich are robbing them of riches when that would be impossible since the poor have no money to spend or give the rich.

Unless you are a popular rap artist.

There you go. We were having a civil and frank discussion before you showed up.

Who the hell are you anyways?

You can state your case if you like, but the name calling or whatever you wanna call it isn't necessary. Please be civil or go and bother someone else. I'm not here to be bothered.

In fact, I think Esco on another thread asking for you to maul him...why don't you go and find him or does that bore you now?

And yes, I did recant..do you know why? Because that statement I made was unfair. I don't know Wilson any more than you know Brown or any of the Ferguson looters. That statement was hypocritical and I try not to be that way. I admit I can be wrong too..can you?

Query:

Arent the people who are calling for cops to be killed or punished without merit, the same people that just a short time ago were telling the 2nd Amendment people to call 911 for help and not "whip out our guns" to protect ourselves?

So which is it? Call the police for help, or kill the police because they are the most evil of evil??

I know that to be true and a fact... and that's why I haven't totally given up. People like esco just set me back once in a while.
My local watering hole is actually a private club so where you can smoke. I've seen a few black guys walk in occasionally and they have to be members to be there. Never seen any of them before. They are always welcome and I've had great conversations with a few myself when they sit close enough to do so. This is a heavy redneck kind of place. Nobody even gives it a second thought.
We're not so overtly racist as we're portrayed to be by the MSM and this whole "white privilege" thing that is being driven by the MSM.
