Ready for Maiden
As in the title. Finally ready to test this bird. I am proud of this build. Took a family tragedy to make me slow down and finish this one. Check out the build. Futaba 272sv/256hv, Skookum 540/cye sensor, OS 105 HZR-DRS with Hatori pipe. Full Rail blades and FBL Rotor upgrades. My homies are at Bham and found me a brighter canopy and will be bringing it home.
Setup with 12.5 degress of coll and 10 cyclic. Gov. 1700, 1850 and 1950.
Got all kinds of fuel acc bling. Even found the JR arm for the High needle.

Thanks to Matt/Amy, IbePilot, OS motors for the proper seat for 105 and Huge thanks to FBL Rotors Unlimited and the Runryder gang.

Now to fly her and fall in love with Nitro again. Been a few months.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement.

Ricky

Aftermarket Canopy
Found that my main gear would rub with stock mounting configuration. Went to my local bolt store and got some longer bolts for the forward mounts. They needed to be widened to allow the mounts to snap into place. Once the forward mounts were spaced properly, I added small shims to the rear and the rub is gone. Glad I am being patient and working out all the little problems. Plan to maiden Saturday.

*** My brother passed today...been spending time with him at hospital.
Hopefully, he will watch my maiden and make smart comments about my flying in Heaven.

Condolences
Thanks guys.

He was in poor health and is at Peace now.

Me and my heli are not. Lack of concentration and just bad luck. I have tried to maiden 3 times. Not in the air yet. I refuse to lose a bird to rushing a flight.

**Having clutch stack problems. Sounds like my one way is shot or a bad radial bearing.

Thanks for support.

If it seems that the OWB might be the issue, you might try cleaning it out with alcohol and then lube it with some light oil, not grease.

OWB
I didn't locktite the clutch mount bolts. It worked loose after starting and setting up motor. Oh yea and my 2 botched attempts at maidens. Luckily all problems were found before take-off. When I try to start it now, the starter shaft slips and makes a horrible racket.

Will take it down in am. No motivation tonight.

Thanks for advice on OWB.

**Refuse to risk this machine with a known problem by putting her in air without be sorted.

Finally Part 3
Well she made 3 flights. Motor tuned. No governor yet just flying on curves. Bad gear whine from my pinion. Found that not enough clearance to the main gear. Ran a piece of paper through it and bolted her up, but it appears it deflected and didn't actually create clearance. So will remedy that soon.

Other problems...I have tie wraps on rear gear. They flex alot and let tail fin rest on ground. Is there a gear in the lineup that will directly replace?

Now the BIG worry.
Why do the tail servos on these birds get hot. We have 3 new ones at the club and all pilots are trying things and scratching heads.

Trying settings in fbls, different servos a FAN. They are all coming down HOT to the touch. My other machines don't have this problem with same FBL and servo setup.

Little help Team.

Thanks in advance.
Ricky

Have you checked to be sure that the servo links are sized and not creating a ton of resistance? Also make sure the linkage is free and doesn't travel so far that the pitch slider is allowed to bind.

I don't make a habit of touching my tail servo after a flight but I have been running the same tail servo for over 300 flights. Never an issue.

Is the ambient temp crazy high?

Im using a torq servo on the tail and it barley gets warm that being said the first tail servo I used was an RJX and it got hot and lasted a total of 10 flights the replacement that was sent to me lasted 20 seconds. Thats when I tried the torq and have not had a single problem sense.

That's really strange about the tail servo. Neither of my N7s have had any issues with the tail servo. I've had Futaba BLS256HV and BK 8005HV on them. I will admit that I've never checked the temps on them but I have a bunch of flights with no issues. I'll have to remember to check after I fly mine next time. Have to get my 105 rebuilt first, though.

On the landing gear, you can either add some spacers between the rear landing gear mount and the frame or sand some off the end of the fin.

Servo brands
Thanks for input. Boto sized the links. Moves like butter. I am not looking for a brand swap. I have a number of futaba 256hv servos. Non heat up like on this model. But i am not alone. We have 3 new N7 models at the club. All three pilots are trying to sort this out. 2 guys have tried 4 brands of servos. All are heating up. Im gonna try venting canopy and baffle air at servo. Not sure what a safe temp is for a servo. But hope we figure it out. This weekend should be filled with test flights, servo fondling and head scratching. Will keep ya posted. Thanks for quick replies.

**other than my whining.. Great bird. Solid and fast.
