Will use the isolators. Thanks IBEPILOT.

***Feel like I am taking forever to build this one. Waiting for cyclic servos. Bought BLS272SVs. I swapped my Nitros to FUTABA..my JRs developed slop within 30 gallons of fuel.

Hobbies on Hold
My N7 has hit a couple of snags. My servos won't be here this week. And my baby girl had surgery today. Nothing major...she will be home tomorrow. Will post picts and vids when I get back on track.

I lawn darted my other 700 Nitro and parts are a week away. Was hoping to have my Synergy in the air before the weekend.

Really glad to have it on the bench and in the build.

Happy New Year guys.

I have attended for 4 yrs. After Bab's behavior last year; I will not be returning. You can only truly speak to this industry with your dollars.

Will be going to Mayday. Maybe we can catchup at this event. Made the last 3 yrs of this event. Great guys.

Delays or just Slacking
No Excuses. Been working 13 hrs a day since the holidays.
Got clutch setup for governor and frame/tail built. Servos centered and in model. Me and the fan shroud got into an argument. Will post again when I have made amends with the drivetrain.

**My long days will end in March. Hopefully I will finish N7 soon after.

Yea I'm slacking on this build.

Back to the B
Little Help.

Installed the main gear last night. Used the included shim. Still has ~1mm of vertical play. Should I shim this out or is this normal?

Solution
Tried locking the collar. It worked, but the machinist in me wouldn't let it go! I pulled bottom bearing off and stack shims until the lift was eliminated. I was careful to not preload any bearings. Now I can sleep. 😴

Progress
Still working 13 hrs a day 7 days a week. But...I am working 30 mins a night. Frame built, tail built, motor installed. Need to finish FBL setup and make a harness to power unit. I really don't like working a build in this manner. I spend more time checking over work to see if I missed somethin than working on new portions of build.

Hopefully will be waiting to maiden soon.

Ready for final setup
Have to setup skookum, throttle linkage and install exhaust.

Have a day off next Weds....hope to have her ready to Maiden.

**Always fight with the Skookum 540 and Nitro setup. Decided that since I like this FBL unit...will figure her out this time.

Last time Mr. Youngblood had to figure out the governor for me.

Nitro setup guide
Any setup videos or guides you suggest. I have sensor mounted and verified that it works. Need to setup endpoints and break in motor without gov. Always have trouble with the Skookum govs. Any help will be appreciated.

Here are the steps that I followed when I set mine up (copied-pasted from where I found them):

- keep gov off in software for now
- setup a linear 0-100 throttle curve in radio, setup hold at 0% and idle up 2 at 100% straight in radio
- calibrate your radio sticks in wizard (keep servo travel to 100% in radio), throttle should then display 0 to 100 in software and match stick travel
- setup your carb with throttle servo arm and carb arm at 90 degrees to throttle link when at mid stick on radio (50 throttle value displayed in software), ensuring the carb is open to the 50% mark on the carb.
- adjust in radio the throttle servo travel to reach 0 and 100 marks on the carb without binding when at low throttle and full throttle stick respectively. Both the low and high end servo travel values in radio should be close if mechanical setup is correct (within 10% difference)
- in software, go to idle up 2 and hit 'set high throttle'
- go in throttle hold, hit 'set idle throttle'
- activate governor, check 'nitro' and 'manage collective',
- enter proper gear ratio
- use 80,80 and 100 for low ramp, high ramp and overdrive and 50 for the gain as a starting point
- setup normal, idle 1 and 2 curves in radio as per wizard
- verify setting by switching between modes, corresponding HS will be highlighted in green in software
- adjust the throttle cut value in radio to ensure the carb is fully closing when hitting throttle cut
- fire up engine and play with throttle trim on radio to have a good idle
- check in your radio monitor what % throttle it corresponds to and set this value as a flat curve for throttle hold
- connect to software, switch to hold and hit 'set idle throttle'
- you're all set!

There are other ways to set the idle (adjusting bottom of normal throttle curve to idle point...) but I found the one above the safest, giving you idle in throttle hold, throttle cut and allowing the SK to see a 0 throttle value at idle for proper spoolup.

CRAP!
I was setting up the tail, and discovered my control rod is about 3/4" too long. The epoxy expanded and pushed tail rod ends out some. I had it taped to my work area. Obviously not well enough.
Heated one up and twisted it with a set of pliers. Came right off. Next one twisted and caught and damaged the control rod.

I ordered a new rod and bought some goodies while I was paying for shipping.

I usually glue the ends up and then take an old towel draped over one end and stand it up against the wall to prevent this. The small amount of air pressure inside wants to push them off a bit.

Sick canopy, I ordered a custom canopy for my Turbine N7, 5 months ago.....Its one thing after the other. I was promised 2 weeks, if it does not happen I am going to Paypal. Maybe they can get me some money back, I hope. In the mean time go here http://www.helilids.com
