I kinda like Align. Flyability, parts availability, costs, are all golden in my book.

I flew MA for several years. I never got comfortable with them but I couldn't complain about the way they flew. I was looking for a change and while at the Mid-America Detroit fly-in back about '08 I got to watching AndyP fly his 700N and it looked like it was just comfortable to fly. Lousy description but I can't explain it any other way. That stuck in my head for a while. Just before IRCHA that year I totaled one of my Fury Extremes. I found a good deal on a 700N at IRCHA. A few weeks later I was flying it. After three flights I was more comfortable with it than I ever was with my MA's. I later bought one of the first 700Ns with the original 3G. Both of these helis are still flying well and luckily still both uncrashed. Both get 4-5 gallons per year through them. Only problems have been leaky fuel tanks and the one-way on the start shaft. All my MA's are gone now. Have a 600EFL and 600N that gets 75% of my flying time. They've both been crashed hard several times and still going strong other than need new packs for the 600EFL. Also fly a Synergy N5C. Can't say it's any better or worse than my Aligns.

The only thing I hate about Align is they don't sell a bare bones airframe. My 450 SEV2 has been great, too bad it is finally going away after all these years of enjoyment.
While maybe not a number on any of their lists, you can find bare frames if you look around enough.

I started out in the hobby many years ago with a 450 SEV2 as well. It was quite a few years ago, but I morphed it into a Pro a while back an was able to find a bare frame for that.

Off hand I can't remember the number, but know there was one that I found an used and shopped around an found the bare frame from that number in several places.

As best I can could tell, it was not any knock off either, it was a Align bare frame.

Align has been around for many years,,,has sold more heli's than all the major brands combined I guess in a relatively short time. Align has destroyed quite a few fledgling heli companies over the years and companies that have been around for years. Anyone remember the Shogun??.... Min Air ?etc?? Many aspects of what they do is a bullseye in the world wide market place. And it sells all over the world ,,not just the USA....with parts availability[a Big Deal] and two for the price of one. Their success is stunning and their flexibility and innovation and ability to react to trends of the marketplace in a very short time is amazing.
Do I like Align,,,yes,,they are the Chevy of helicopters..many things are great,,,bean counters do equate into the final product....many in the chain of shipping and distribution of their products make a ton. Yet their prices are very competitive everywhere around the world....amazing. Am I an avid fan of Align????,,,No but their huge infrastructure and flexibility at a moments notice is very remarkable. What is to hate? I hate they put Miniature Aircraft out of business. Not directly but you know what I am saying. Many great American RC heli designers are out of options and have to stop. Because it is cheaper to do it in China and too expensive to make anything in America. A real pity if you ask me.There is so much talent here in the USA that has NO opportunity to do what could be the next best thing.Their hands are tied. That sucks.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

You maybe correct!! There are ways around any Patent....with just a minor design change,,,,,,,that they consider patent worthy,,,and patent lawyers backed by money ,,, hell,,could be true. There are no Patents in China....I don't believe...

Yes, Taiwan...

http://www.align.com.tw/

Their laws are not ours....

Was just kidding with the "hoover" comment.

But, the US has such economic leverage that they'd better not infringe on US patents....too much.....otherwise, who would defend them against the ChiComs?

I don't own any of their helis but every Other product I have bought from Align has failed. I personally don't trust anyone flying anything Align around me, but that's just me. There's tons of companies out there that actually do all kinds of research and testing and then there's others who just build helis that fly and look beefy.

Personally one of the things I like about Align though is that they do tend to work on things with their releases an make improvements, an then put those improvements into the product over time.

An a lot of times, they're even parts that no one is even really complaining about, they seem to have just done it as they looked at it themselves and saw they could make a improvement and so they do. Sometimes it's even just a small one, but still its usually better an often then means you don't have to spend tons on hop-up parts an throw half of what you bought in the kit back in the box.

An then I think the recent 150 was a even accelerated example of that.

The product had quite a few defects and weak spots upon its release, but instead of just letting that be and instead conducting a program of censorship and information control on the boards so they could sell as many as they could, they let the good an bad of what they had done be known, an quietly went about fixing each one an had a lot of the issues worked out in about 6 months, an now the product comes with all of those an is even available at a lower price.

Having said all that though, I'm not trying to come off like I'm giving them or anyone who releases a poor product a pass on things like that even if that is the case.

I mean I know nothing is or can be perfect, but all in all this idea of just letting only top an sponsored pilots do all the testing an especially the final of the product, how ever you want to slice it, doesn't seem to be that great of a idea. I mean I understand all the aspects of the money an as to why on that and for the other reasons of it, but still, to see a release that within days of getting into the hands of the average person suddenly "then" exposes stuff that you just couldn't imagine could be missed, just seems like to me that perhaps they should be putting at least some of those into these kinds of peoples hands before that comes about.

And Align has manage to stay competitive while a few of the biggest
act in RC has flipped up and out of the picture.

I think its the product and not the price.

Why should a Heli need upgrades or improvements over time? Why not research, innovate, test, improve, repeat and then release? If only there was a German company willing to do that.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

All helis improve over time, it's just moving with the times! I've never needed to upgrade an align heli! The only reason there's so much after market bling for aligns is because they are so popular! You wouldn't make after market parts for a hirobo turbulence for example!

60% of the time, it works every time!
