I am frankly sick of all the marketing hype surrounding new models.

Or the simple strategy of making up sizes we have never heard of in a effort to just sell more models...

Let your Kits win a few World Championships, or a few 3d Comps and let that be the marketing. Ya know, like the good old days.

The Goblin design was NOT original...just a copy of many F3C helis.
I would respectfully disagree. F3C has used fuselages over their pod/boom helis to smooth the airflow, but they are not at all like the functional carbon boom moulding which bears the driven tail loads like that of the Goblin. Correct me if I am wrong.

Like it or not, it's fairly original in design among our aerobatic helis and they seem to perform to a very high level as well. It's a splash of diversity. I still like the old pod/boom design just fine. Nice carbon tubes are fine by me.

What I wouldn't like is a cover over a conventional boom tube. Simply gets in the way of maintenance and seeing the condition of the mechanics. But I can appreciate that it lends the appearance if desired. I think JR has a very nice looker in their Forza 700.

But then, I love flying my 700N naked. LOL.

I use competition results and word of mouth primarily, as a measure of a heli. If they can prove themselves at competition level, there's something to it. And if it has a good lasting reputation, there's something to it. I never buy a new release. Word of mouth is only valuable after some time has passed and hype has ended.

But thats not to say looks are disregarded. If I think it's ugly, it doesn't matter what comps it wins. It isn't getting into my fleet. LOL. So looks are definitely in my criteria for a heli.

I like the Logo 600 appearance and it was a consideration. When it went on to prove itself in competition and reliability, I got one.

The heli I'm watching right now is the Forza 700. But it's too early to tell if it deserves a spot in my fleet. I don't buy a heli on looks alone. And I don't buy a new release. It has to prove itself.

With the right lines, shrouded tails can look good IMO. I'm not sure I feel strongly one way or another about the Goblin. I do like the Forza lines.

No it doesn't. If you talk to the top pilots they can all blow up their machines at will. They learn the limits and fly within them. I'd bet money that there are maybe 2 or 3 people total on here who can fly better than Alan Szabo's old Raptor 90 videos. Even that might be generous, and that's an old flybar mechanical mix nitro.

I'm realistic. There is no heli on the market aside from rtf crap that isn't capable of more than I am. From there I look at the design for ease of maintenance, reliability, and unique features. Usually I like to wait for a while after a release to see what the weak points are and then make my decision. Videos do nothing for me. I rarely even watch them because they mean nothing.

I remember years ago seeing a video of Kyle Stacy flying a Blade CP better than most people fly their 700s today. That was the most convincing demo that videos of pros don't matter that I've ever seen. Also all those videos of the Align 3G when it was first released where it was doing more tHan any normal guy can do today with any system and the pilots saying how great it was. Years later I heard an interview with Bert Kammerer saying how he could make it look good but it flew like crap and he had to work around it. Further demonstrating that pros and videos mean nothing.

I agree videos mean nothing. But competition wins mean they weren't fighting the issues Bert was talking about. The heli has to have natural performance to win.

I own a couple of Goblins and I'm very happy with them. I like my Goblins because they fly well and are easy to work on. I think it's mostly the way the upper deck is designed and the belt driven tail and boom. As a result, they do well in a crash. I know there are lots of good helicopters out there. That's one of the things that makes this hobby so much fun. Lots of choice. Lots of options. Lots of opinions.

I think goblins look good. TDRs on the otherhand, the lg makes it look real funky.

Some designs are really polarizing. Like cars I suppose. Good thing there's something for everyone!

Aaron I will tell you this much about the Forza 700. Ryan has been flying it since just before IRCHA and all we can say is wow. He has had several helis in the time that he has flown and this one is by far and above the rest. He flew the Alees Rush in the xfc last year and it is a nice heli but one thing we noticed is that we were constantly fixing little things. It is a nice heli and will work very well for ppl so I don't want anyone to take that wrong. Ryan taxes a heli hard. The Forza we haven't even tightened a screw in it. We have fixed nothing and it has problably 250 flights on it now. Now that it is winter we are going to tear it apart and replace bearings and completely go through it so it will be good for this summers flying and xfc again. Now I will admit Ryan is not gonna win it or anything like that as those guys have been doing it for quite a while and have lots of experience but boy is it a fun time. The Forza is just what we needed tho to up his game. But with that said I have never seen anyone do with the goblin what Kyle Stacy does. Holy crap is it awesome!!!Team Jr
