When the goblin came out it was very original. I always thought they looked pretty cool. I saw the align version of the full canopy and tail cover and it was really nice and highly visible.

If Gaui ever came out with something like that I'd probably try it out.

The Goblin design was NOT original...just a copy of many F3C helis.

To me it was relatively different from the f3c stuff. And it builds a little different. Ready made plug and play.

Having been in the hobby since 1998 and seeing all the f3c stuff from then until the goblin, the f3c stuff was all a very small niche of the hobby. The goblin was the first full fuse heli that hit big in the mainstream segment of the hobby, and has inspired other mainstream heli's to do the same.

I don't know Goblins very well, but I'm pretty sure the tail is not a canopy. Basically what you are seeing is the tail/boom, its one hollow piece that is bolted to the frame at the front, an the tail hub is attached to it at the rear. There is no inside boom or other parts to it.

Then as since that has to stay, I might suspect that putting on what would be a normal canopy might look even funnier.

But as said, its all in the eye of the beholder.

Goblins
There are a lot of other helicopters that are less aesthetically pleasing than a Goblin, but when it comes down to it, they are damn reliable and fly like a dream. Considering the way they're designed, it makes life a whole lot easier when s..t happens. And if you've ever flown at twilight, you would know the canopy design and colors helps with orientation and saves your butt when your not paying attention to time. So maybe it's not beautiful to everyone, but what ever is? When it comes down to it, I'd take an bird that's 100% reliable than a good looking piece of cr#p. You?

Like the Goblin or don't like it. Its your choice but a number of other manufacturers are doing their best to produce helicopters that look like the Goblin so they must think there is something attractive about it.

I can honestly say that I never met a helicopter that I didn't like. Some were just better than others.

I've had my Goblin 700 Comp for a little over a year now. Sitting on the ground, there are definitely times I think it's ugly. However, in the air, it's the best heli I've ever owned. I can see it perfectly in any light and orientation, it flies perfectly, and has been 100% reliable. I've never kept a heli for as long as this and been happy with it, and a lot of that is the way it looks.

Regards the look, old logos and goblins are the ugliest, in my opinion, and tdr is the most beautiful heli ever, but who cares, we want a good well made mechanical heli

See. Everyone has their preferences. I think the TDR is the ugliest heli money can buy. It's like he had all the talent in the world designing the mechanics. Then had my 6 year old come in and do the canopy and landing gear. Gross.

But I think the canopy is the best aerodynamic, that is why the TDR is so fast, it is Lamborghini by far.

Great functionality does not equal great looks.
