I have not heard anything yet. Still have my Fury and Furion 6.
Few extra parts for the Fury and a spare kit for the Furion. I like both of these helis and don't want to see them crash and not be able to repair. However, I still fly them.

I doubt it since Heliproz has all the parts 60% off right now.

There is no return for MA. It's gone and gone for good.

Ok Rudy why do you said that . . . . . .

I say that for a couple of reason's.

1. The Whiplash's OWB in the clutch bell gave them a really bad name. Many people that had been fans for years moved away from them due to problems with that design.

2. As they made their parts here in the US they were not cheap. They were unable to come out with new 600 designs as it costed them just as much to make a 700 blade grip and all the other parts as it did to make parts for a 600 or smaller ship. About the only reason people fly stuff smaller then 700 is for cost savings. If your 600 cost the same as 700 why do it.

3. To hope to reopen then would have to come out with a new 700 class helicopter. Most of the whiplash design could stay just move the OWB back to the main gear like 95% of the other brands. And call it some other name. Then they would need to come up with a 550/600 class helicopter and so on.

4. Due to the high cost to make stuff in the US they would have have parts made over seas.

5. There are a lot of different brands out there. The market is fat and the simple fact is sales are down. I would not be surprised to see one or two other brands fade away in the coming year. Who want to throw money in to this market right now.

I didnt think their parts were that bad, I rather pay a bit for for good quality/tight parts made here in the US any day.
The whiplash was a good heli, with a low part count. What was the problem with the clutch bell?

Very well put Rudy!
Sad but true....I think most of us are over it by now and are planning, or have already made the next move.
Good luck to all in their gasser endeavors!

What was the problem with the clutch bell?
They put the OWB in the clutch bell, and on every model it would slip. In the beginning it was thought that oil from the OWB was running in to the clutch bell and causing it to slip. Then they though the OWB was slipping in the housing. Only after MA closed did users figure out that the OWB was not rated for the RPMS needed. Once a new type of OWB was installed it fixed the problem. However this new OWB is about $100.00 shipped.

There are 3 or 4 people that where having issues with the OWB slipping in flight. They installed the new OWB and all slipping are now gone.

It appears the old OWB was not rated for the RPMs that the engine/motor was putting out, and it would slip when above that range and the load was removed. The new OWB is rated for a higher RPM.

Again had the OWB been on the main shaft vs the engine output shaft RPM's would have been about 1/9 as high and there would not have been a problem.

But ha it's always easy to point out the problem/fix after it's done

Part number GMN FE422 - M

You can order it from

Motion Industries
510-266-0200 Hayward CA office

This is a drop in replacement for the Gasser, and I believe it works in the Nitro ver as well.

You can find a lot more information in the gasser section on the other forum.

I grew up on Shluter and then MA.
I was sorry to see them go, but in the end, their designs were not keeping up with the field.
My favorite heli was the Graphite Custom Pro.

MA was my first 90 size machine I had the fury extreme and later the tempest FAI and 3D, I loved every minute of flying them, built up loads of spares, but this year has been a bad year for me, after my fire my fury shorted in flight, the elevator servo wire rubbed on inside of frame and cut signal wire, I had no control over it and it went in full idle up 2, totally smashed the machine.

the cost of repair in part was £640.00 ( $1033.00) for that went out and got a fully kitted out Trex 700.

I could get spares but it was the little bits I wanted like blade grips arms and spindles which you cannot get..

so in the end I sold my spares for a fraction of their original costs and moved on.

very sad as it was a bench mark helicopter that a lot of others came from.

All The Best

I think there would be money to be made for someone that could make just a few parts. Even just main gears,,tail gears and everything in between. Many models were in production a long time and had time to saturate the market with parts. They are around somewhere if you look hard enough. The Whiplash sadly has the problem of a very short production run. People seem to concentrate on the Whiplash,,and for good reason as they all just recently payed a good deal of money and were burned. Parts were made for a very short time also and now made of unobtainium. For older models there is a warehouse of parts across the country. A few expendable parts like main gears , spindals , main shafts etc would be very helpful and make many of us happy and of course would I think make money no problem for the person who will make the very few parts parts. The producer could really name their price and people will pay it,,,

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Sadly, I think this story is similar to that of TSK but without the obvious background. An established manufacturer of a quality product can't produce a new low cost model to compete with the trendy new plastic cheap models that people spend a fortune upgrading. They then have an airframe that cost more to buy (In stages) than the upmarket model. At least they have a lot of plastic parts as spares.
I once bought a shuttle from an auction which had every metal upgrade on it.
I worked out it would have cost 1.5 times the cost of my MyStar 30 model I was flying at the time, and still am.

Why fly the rest when you can fly the best. What are the best these days anyway ?
