Nice looking mechanics. They look to be very easy to convert to electric with a clutch. At first I thought that they looked heavy, but after seeing how much material has been hogged out of the side frames, they probably aren't any heavier than Benzin mechs. Do you know what the final drive ratio is and why he went gear/gear primary drive instead of an XL belt?

Usually, and i am not sure here, but gear-gear on the bottom gives right hand rotation. Belt to clutch gives left hand rotation.

Manfred Zipper Scale Helicopters
Well Barry asked about , Why not go with Direct Swash to Servo , CCPM, Side Frames ? Well Manfred , Reads the Forum , and sent me this e-mail to Explain why He uses Bell Cranks from Swash to Servos !! And also Final Drive Ratio ?

Final Drive Ratio: Main Rotor max. 1211 RPM Tail Rotor max. 6580 PPM

Dear Gary,

I read you forum of today. Very Interesting. The question of Mojave “…why not direct servo to the swash? ...

It is easy explained. The high frequency vibrations of the rotor blades go from the rotor head to the swash blade and directly to the servos. In the long run that can destroy the servos. Therefore I constructed a lever between the servos and the swash blade in order to stop these vibrations. The bigger a helicopter with a big rotor wing span the more high frequency vibrations appear during load change – and consequently stress the servos. For that reason I always uncouple the servos from the swash blade.

Well , I asked Manfred that same Question about CCPM side Frames , and He told me why He choose Bell Cranks between Swash and Servos , Vario and Other Companies , do the same type set up in Most of their Helicopters .

I remember Walt Schoonard and I talked about that Question Many Years ago, Why the bell cranks ? ,,, I asked Why Not go from Servo Directly to Swash ? Walt believed the same thing .

Of Course , Servos have gotten Better since the Old Days .

Manfred Zipper with Many Many Years In Full Scale Aircraft Design, and Being CEO of Design and Engineering , He knows Stress is a Big Factor.to any Part of the Controls and Air Frames , So I respect His Opinion on this Question .

Well We all have our Opinions and we all Respect Each Other.

Interesting answer regarding the bell cranks... Anyway, ask Manfred if he plans to do an electric version of these mechs. If so, may I suggest a different set of side frames that are approx. 4" shorter in the front. This additional room for the IC engine is not needed for an electric motor and will free up cockpit space for detailing. Has he decided how big the huey variants will be?
Barry

Zipper Scale Helcopters
Barry , I will ask Him , about electric mechanics , but not sure if He would , at this Time , maybe later , but It is up to him , not me ,,

I am guessing the larger 212 , 412, and BO 105 , should be about the size of the New Black Hawk , which is about 81 inches Long

Most of you are not familiar with Manfred's scale bodies ,, If He designed the Mechanics , which He did , , He did make them where the Mechanics fit the floor plate , You will and should have ample room for plenty of Front Cock Pit detail, Manfred use to make Cock Pits for His bodies and I am sure He will again ,,

I think If you look at his Frames , I believe if you compare them to Like Airstar Evolution Frames ,, Zipper frames should shorter In Length from Front to Rear

I will ask Him to give me some measurements ,,

Barry , I would to talk to you Personally about doing some work for Me and for Manfred , my cell is 817-812-7050 , Gary

Manfred Zipper scale bodies
to , Gary

The “EYLAU2005” Italy Heliman Peter asked about Sea Hawk / Black Hawk

First I will produce a Sea Hawk with rotor wing span of 220 cm, because my favorite is the Coast Guard as well. Later comes the Sea Hawk with 275 cm rotor wing span. I started the 220 cm version some years ago but had no time to continue and I want to finish this one before starting the next.

First Sea Hawk because it is easier to make a Black Hawk out of a Sea Hawk than the other way round. Additional scale units will be added for the Black Hawk Version like

reinforced metal plates;
the Sea Hawk Landing Gear is in the middle – the Black Hawk one is under the Tail Boom
Black Hawk Sliding Doors left and right side – Sea Hawk has Sliding Doors on the right side and just sliding windows on the left side
The stabilizer at the Sea Hawk is rectangular and at the Black Hawk trapezoid

Several other details are different. Therefore each type will have its own scale components.

Sikorsky itself has the Sea Hawk as Main Modell and modified the Black Hawk with mounting parts and reinforced parts.

The Right picture shows Black Hawk cover of Landing Gear (tailskid)

Left picture Seahawk without cover tailskid
