Skydive from edge of space beats world record
25 October 2014

Google executive Alan Eustace has broken the world altitude record for a parachute jump by leaping from 135,890 feet (41,419 metres).

He exceeded the speed of sound, setting off a small sonic boom, and set several skydiving records in the process.

Mr Eustace was carried by a large helium balloon from New Mexico to over 40km (25 miles) above the earth.

The previous record was set by Felix Baumgartner (Red Bull) two years ago, after he jumped from a height of nearly 128,000 feet.

Helicopters are a mass of rotating metal fatigue surrounding an oil leak !

This guy used a drogue chute to stabilize his initial descent after jumping, even though this slowed his descent rate.

Remember how Baumgartner initially started tumbling?

Was Eustace wearing a Zenith?

Is Joe Kittinger still around? I remember when he did the sky writing for Bob Snow and Rose O' Grady's in Orlando. Good guy.

Eustace was wearing Google Glasses....
jk

He sure is.

When Baumgartner performed his jump, Kittinger was in the command post helping with the jump.
