Anyone tried using one of the DLE flexible headers on a glo-fuel heli engine? I need to attach a Zimmerman pipe to my OS 61SX-H and I can't find a US zimmer-man!!

The lot I got is not a lot, but I thank God a lot for the lot I got!

i've used one on a YS91AC 4 stroke plane engine with great success. but, i think in a 2-stroke, tuned pipe situation it would not work well. you'll be losing all the power gained by scavenging to that extra length you'd add. IOW your tuned pipe would now just be a muffler.

if it ain't broke, break it.

cudaboy_71,

I'm looking for a header to install a Zimmerman pipe on my Schluter Scout. Using a conventional side mounted muffler would require having to cut an opening in my new canopy!
I don't think the Zimmerman pipe is a "tuned-pipe" but a muffler.
A lot of the European fliers use the Zimmerman pipes on their Schluter and Robbe helis.
RCMarket have the correct Zimmerman headers but shipping is just too expensive to get them to the US and then here.
Advantage Hobbies have the Zimmerman pipes but don't have the correct headers for my application.

The lot I got is not a lot, but I thank God a lot for the lot I got!

Well the header itself is simple enough. Its a quality piece. If the length of the pipe doesnt matter for you I think it should work fine.

In my case the stock muffler installation hung below my fuse. With retracts if I ever had to do a belly landing I'd rip my crankcase apart. So I rerouted it higher.

if it ain't broke, break it.
