The lack of battery space is exactly why the 690sx loses points for me. I have no less than 4 of the plastic fantastic chassis and I've stuffed my 6s5000 packs into them to see how they would fit and it is just tight. I would love to see the 690sx get an enlarged plastic chassis.

The Logo 690SX is NOT just a 600 with a longer boom. It is NOT... Mikado as they are famous for and I have told lots of people this who have commented on this thread. People may not like the looks of a Logo (I do personally), they may not like the price of the kit, they may not like they can't walk into local hobby store and buy parts, but.... NO ONE EVER flew a Logo with a Vbar set up right and said it flew bad. NEVER...

I had the Logo 700 for a long time. Yes, I said had... After over a year it was not the best machine to suit my needs as a pilot with my current skills. Did I like how it flew? Best feel on the head of any machine I have EVER owned. EVER... I wanted longer flight time and a machine to float more. Is the L700XX biggest 700 made. Yes it is. Did I know that when I got it. Yes I did. Is it BOMB proof in the air? Absolutely. Is it heaver than some want, yes it is, BUT..... BUT many can't say anything their favorite XYZ brand breaks in flight. ANYBODY can lighten a machine up with drilling holes and milling this and that but if it breaks then it is WORTHLESS. 100% WORTHLESS So half the naysayers need to go buy some extra torque gears and main gears and be quiet....

The Logo 690SX can it take 5000's yes it can and many fly it with them. It is a TAD not much nose heavy. Dahl I know uses 5K packs. Is it a full blown 700 that can be beat like a 700XX? No and Mikado has screamed this. NOW... it is not fragile. It is 100% as strong as a Raptor 700E I flew one for over a year and have the 690SX since it came out. Lets compare apples to apples.

The 690SX has a all new swashplate that optimizes the geometry for 690 blades and is larger to handle the loads 690 blades create. This is not a Logo 600 with a long boom like a 600SE is. The 690sX has 5mm blade grips that are all new to hold 690 blades. Once again this is not L600 grips. It has the option part on the L600 for the tail drive pulley that has deeper teeth and is carbon and aluminum not plastic like 600 part is. Mikado had custom belt made for 690SX this is NOT the 600Se belt. NOT. Belt is largest and thickest of ANY heli I have EVER seen. Much thicker than a G770 belt.

One look and everyone thinks this is a L600 with a long boom. NO, not by a long shot. I run 2K head speed and +-14º and it goes like stink... I get almost 5 minutes on 4400 packs for hard 3D too. 5K packs will give right at 6 minutes. YEAH I said almost 6 minutes.

Does Mikado hear folks thoughts? Ubetcha... They are a lot of things but stupid is not one of them. The future is only going to get better. Mikado has just scraped the surface on what the radio can do and many new machines are being worked on now I'm sure.

I think every body agrees with your post, i am more than pleased with my 690 logo, I think what we are all saying is it would of been nice to see a larger set of there famous plastic frames to bring it up to size as the bottom extension was added to give the right proportions to the model, where as a larger frame set could of used the space for batterys. As for the battery size fitting, yes they do fit but they are tight when using 5000 packs.
I personally had to file out the front opening to get my packs in. That why we would of liked the same frame layout just extended a inch or so bigger.
I understand it would be very expensive to make the frames bigger.
Still a great model.
Paul.

I don't own a 690 yet, but five friends I fly with do...
They love the fact that it uses the same frames as the 500/600, because they only need to have one frame set on hand in case of a crash with any of their Logos.

Let me put the L690 in perspective. I would rather fly my L600. It is more point and shoot capable due to having smaller blades and higher head speeds than the 690. The L600 already floats more than any other heli in my fleet.

I had the L500SE once and didn't like its extreme floatiness. Good for autos but a bit sluggish for other maneuvers. The L690 has the same characteristics.

If you like kites, you should like the L690. For me the 700 Xxtreme is a better choice in a 700 class machine from Mikado. Yeah, it does cost a bit more.

+1

I remember Dave Dahl making a post on a thread complaining about the L700 Xxtreme's weight that a larger plastic frame was in Mikado's vision. Of course he could give no details.

Futura SE, any further developments on this TTBOYK?

All I can say is Mikado shares your vision but how soon it will happen I realistically have no idea... I do know priority of projects gets moved around like any company. I hope sooner than later but I very much enjoy what I have now. Dave has said same for a long time. Mold cost is massive so when do all the stars align we will have to see. Who knows if mikado has finished filling out its lineup yet?

Quote from Futra SE,

"Who knows if Mikado has finished filling out its lineup yet?"

Well, I can witness to you based on what's sitting in my garage/workshop, that by no means is Mikado sitting down thinking their line-up of products is done. There's lots of stuff in the works.

Kyle has been traveling almost constantly since the Heli Masters in July. He just returned from Colombia two days ago (his last long trip for awhile), and he came home to a workshop FULL of both hardware and software projects to build, prototype and test, with more to come in the next months...enough to keep him busy for quite awhile. The UPS and Fed/Ex drivers delivering to the house are all on a first name basis

I'm even getting to fly and play with some of it The conversation usually goes like this, "Hey dad, fly this and tell me what a completely inept pilot would think?"

I'm lovin it.

Something I've recently realized is that the TDR being discontinued is going to leave a gap in the heli market. As far as I can tell, it and the Banshee are the only lightweight 700 size helis that are light and have extremely wide gear ratio ranges. If Mikado could use the 700/800 XX drive train in a lighter chassis, that huge gear would make wide gear ratios really easy.

If he wasn't so big you could swat him on the butt for that!

I just finished building my Logo 690SX and setting it up with the new Vbar control radio that i got on the columbus day sale. This kit is really high quality and i was really impressed with the 690 SX specific parts. They were Beefy! (swash, oneway, tail, tail gear, main grips etc.) The kit and setup went together in 2 nighgt and i am going to maiden this weekend so i should have some flight reports.

I was really impressed with the Vbar Control coming from my 10Ch. The setup with the Vbar was just amazing. Bassicly just bind, load the 690 preset, level the swash, and adjust some gains. That's it !

No computer, no nonsense. I love the new Mikado direction personally and i think the 690 is going to be a winner.

questions on ESC- - I have the Stock scorpion motor. Can i get away with a Jive 80HV with heatsink that i have already ? or should i get the new 120+

I was using the 80HV on my 600se with 4035-400 with no issues,but that's a smaller motor

I'm not sure on the weight, but the Diabolo has some wide gear ratios available.

Protoype, where did you hear that? Have yet to own one, but have always
liked those. Very sad if true.

Nate, depending on what h/s+ flying style you will be doing, the 80hv
might be fine, especially since you already have it

I have over two years on mine in a 600se also, but w. a Hyperion 500.
Has worked great! But nothing over 10s mostly w. lot of LHS stuff too.

TDR has been discontinued, Jan is only supplying parts now (for the next ten years).

TDRII and TDS coming before too long.

More info in this thread...and many others!
