Hi Guys,

It appears the DFC dampers are now being molded rather than machined. They now look shinny with no machining marks.

I've noticed the new molded ones are coming with some sort of imperfection. The new dampers slide easily and with slop in the spindle, and the outer surface of them isn't flat but concave.

I discovered this after I replaced a set of the old type DFC dampers with these new ones, and the head ended with more play. I've bought dampers from two different stores and both sets show the imperfection.

I've attached pictures of both dampers. If there's in fact an issue with the molding, this is a potential danger as the head will end with play that could lead to boom strikes in hard maneuvers.

Thanks for your time,

David

Good find imagine it's a huge cost saving with not having to machine them .
Bet there's a fully automated machine banging them out .
When align alter parts I wish they would change part number , atleast add a letter on the end etc

Before you push the dampers into the head block, wrap the outside of new dampers with Saran Wrap or some other thin plastic wrap.

This will tighten them up nicely.

We started doing this with the RJX head blocks years ago.
And, I do it on the Trex 600 DFC heads too.

Not right though you should have to add tape to take any slack out .
I will look out for these in future as reason for replacing dampers is to remove play not to add more .

Thanks for your comments.

To those who have read this topic, I'll appreciate if you can report back your findings when you get the new type dampers.
