It won't be $600 on the street. And, it does include a case (edit: and receiver).

Seriously makes me want to ditch my gen one DX18. Man.

Really? Stunning black finish?. To each their own I guess but to me it looks cheap and unfinished...ugly. And I'm a Spektrum fan.

That price also includes a $100 receiver.

I really like it!

The only reason Bob doesn't like it is because it's black like a Vcontrol.

Now that would be nice...otherwise I might have to sell mine to get a black one.

I too am a big Spektrum fan, formerly JR (25 years ago)

I have two DX8's and I think the DX9 is a major upgrade over the 8 especially if you rely on telemetry in your flying. The 8 only makes three distinct alerts; vibe, beep, or vibe and beep. As long as you only have three things you are tracking and can remember which is which you are good I guess. As far as wireless buddy box goes, it's nice but not essential. The screen has higher resolution on the 9, but the latest version of AirWare lets the DX8 enter System Setup without having to exit and restart just like the 9. That is nice when doing initial model setups.

I think a person starting out today would be crazy not to try and pick up a used DX8. A DX8 used should be about $225, street price on the 9 is $449.00. Forget the BLACK for now, in six month it will be $449 without the case or RX.

As far as the DX18 is concerned it has nothing at all that interests me. The fact that the guys who rushed out to buy the 18 last year can't just upgrade it with firmware to speak must sting quite a bit.

The DX8 may very well be the best value for price TX ever made. If you need more than 30 model memory, you have enough spare cash to buy anything you want.

As an owner of the DX8 & DX18, (also JR9303 and 11x) I am not too excited about a voice telling me anything. I will not run out to buy the talking DX9. It makes no sense to me to upgrade for that feature. I just look down at the screen to get the information. I really wish they would allow me to get all the info on one screen... that would be a nice no cost firmwear upgrade.

I would love to have the cordless buddy box, but using a cord and keeping $450 in my pocket suits me just fine.

I am not complaining about the DX9, far from it, I think that it is great... next year there will be something else. I welcome the improvements, but need to get a couple more years out of my investment. I am not going to sell a perfectly good radio for peanuts, just to go out and buy another that will be out of "new" in 6 months to a year.

No guys, I don't buy a new vehicle every 3 years to keep up with the Jones. I buy what I need when I need it. I bought the DX8 for telemetry, I bought the DX18 for channels and a rock bottom price.

Would you rather them freeze their product development and never offer a new product again? They discontinue something becuase they have something new in the pipe. They do continue to support products, that's for sure.

Yes, it does. I didn't even "rush out." I waited quite a while. They announced the DX9 maybe a month after I bought my DX18.

I don't think there is a perfect transmitter finish. Shiny shows fingerprints, but I held a VControl at IRCHA which is of course matte black, and it showed every spec of dust on every nook and cranny, and it had only been out of the box for about a day. Kinda like owning a black car.....

black transmitters should be banned.... I was out with my trex 700 yesterday about middle of the day, by the end of my first flight the front of my xmitter (8FGS) was almost too hot to touch.... It was so hot I was worrying that the electronics inside were getting cooked.

Yeah yeah, I know it's my fault for not bringing out an umbrella, but still....

I liked my white Proline transmitters. Proper color unless you live in the frozen north. You can't leave a black transmitter in the sun long and expect it to function.

I like the DX9 for that fact that it has 5 flight modes and 7 point curves. One day I'll get one, but it seems like I just bought my DX8.
