So far I have two Blade 200 srx helis, BOTH of which are non functional due to a tail motor issue.
THe first heli flew about 8 times before the tail motor simply quit (went intermittent) and caused a crash. First day, 8th flight. Called Horizon and they were very nice and agreed to send the replacement parts. Of course, the tail motor was on back order (and still is). Heli now resides on shelf.

I was having so much fun with the little Heli that I went and bought another one. This one was pretty much dead out of the box, again a bad tail motor. I didn't bother to call Horizon, just got an RMA and returned it to the hobby shop I purchased it from. Still waiting for a replacement of either the heli or my money.

Got an email from Horizon today telling me that they "Couldn't Continually Keep sending me tail motors...". I found this to be pretty funny and just a little insulting as Horizon HASN'T SENT ME ANY TAIL MOTORS AT ALL! I called and asked what the email was all about and was told that the motors are STILL on back order.

So I'm invested into this little heli to the tune of $450.00 (2 models) and so far have had less than 30 minutes flight time. I'm told that the motors might be in by the end of the month. So you're telling me that there isn't a PROBLEM with the Tail Motors?

I really liked the FP heli as it was a great way to introduce people into flying a heli. They are easy to get off the ground, they move nice and predictably, and are also good tools to practice nose in hovering to develop muscle memory.

I particularly liked the Blade Setup with the three flight modes and auto 'rescue'. Just wish that they were a little more reliable.

Any suggestions for a nice size FP heli that might fill the bill would be appreciated.
In the meantime, I'll wait for these two birds to get back together.

Maybe give the msr a try. It's not quite as forgiving as the 200,but it's almost bullet proof over grass.

Have fun, Fly safe!!

Got a tail motor from Horizon right after I posted the first post. Here is a photo of it 4 minutes after installation.

It's in the big brown truck heading back to Illinois.

That is a frustrating bummer. 4 minutes after installing it and then flying it or after 4 minutes after installation and just sitting there it fell apart? LOL!

HH seems to be less accepting these days of sending out replacement parts.
Seems like defective parts that are not known to be a problem, they are happy to replace. Known defective parts that they are experiencing high warranty claims against, they seem less accomodating.
Best results happen by not to calling them and just fill out the online warranty/repair form and send it in.

My 130X was falling apart left and right when I first bought it ( well actually still is). On the second flight the tail blades departed for no reason. I called them to request warranty replacement parts. I was informed that there is no warranty on any of there heli's. I was told the Buyer accepts full knowledge of this at the time of purchase. That put the FU in my FUN.

I stopped flying my 130x as it was possibly the worst heli I ever owned (Until I bought a TREX 150 which is the current champion junk Heli). Horizon was prtty nice about sending the parts, although I did get an email from one of their reps telling me that "We can't keep continually sending you tail motors...) Which I found to be pretty snotty considering that I hadn't received ANY tail motors at the time. Since then, Horizon has my 200 and I'll assume that they will replace it with a working model. After all, it's less than a week old when all is said and done and it's CLEAR that the tail motor has issues. We shall see.

I work as an R&D designer and the amount of testing and verification we do on products is insane. But even then out in the field the consumer still ends up finding issues.
I highly doubt Horizon does any testing because to many of there products have glaring issues. Unless there vendor is sending them preproduction samples for testing that are top tier and then turning around and making the production models out of sub standard materials. Not to mention who is actually building these things at the factory. A field working one day to assembling RC helicopters the next is bound to have quality control issues.
I give Horizon high marks for bringing cool products to the market but, I have always said they need to get a grip on quality. I'm a sucker just like the next guy and keep buying in. Horizon does well with airplane quality and most of there electronics (other then RTF electronics). Heli's and cars are marginal at best.

UPDATE
Ok, so I got the replacement 200srx. Brand new in the box. Thank you Horizon. I call that good customer service.

Flew the heli for 3 packs and the tail motor never once heated up. Next day I flew it again and at about 2 minutes into the flight, it just stopped responding to the transmitter went into fast forward flight and vanished into the horizon (no pun intended).

I would assume that it's already back at Horizon's Warehouse ready to be shipped to someone else.

This is simply UNBELIEVABLE.

CORRECTION : AMAIN HOBBIES NOT HORIZON!
I said in my previous post that I had gotten the 200SRX back from Horizon. THis was a mistake. I got the Replacement Heli Back from AMAIN who exchanged my defective heli for one that, while the tail did not overheat, Seemed to ahve a mind of its own and decided it didnt' like its new digs. Hey, sometimes things go where they want to and we can't do a darn thing about it.

Now TODAY I got a 200SRX replacement from HORIZON (yes, I had TWO defective 200SRX helis in the same month!). Rather than go through a repair, HORIZON simply replaced the whole heli with a new on. I flew a pack through in (in our warehouse...if I was going to try to fly away it wasn't getting far!).

This one flies just as nice as can be, the tail doesn't heat up and so far (1 pack), it seems to like its new home.

Hey, you can't argue with HORIZON'S Customer service. They have always been very attentive and extremely generous in their dealings.

KUDOS to them.

tail motor
I'll have to keep that in mind- i've just replaced a cash-load of parts due to a pirouette of death. Yet, my motor is working, I think the last tail boom I replaced, I cut the protective insulation and after a few hard flights, including a bunch of sweet loops, i may have caused a short- bringing down my 200. Its back together and we'll see how it goes.

Keep an eye on the tail motor. Sometimes they seem to be working and then POOF they're gone. Probably the weakest link in an otherwise fine heli.

I rebuilt the tailboom with the tail motor wires on the outside of the boom keeping all the wires separated. So far so good, tail motor seems to be working the way it should. Still has a little bit of twitching in it.

I've noticed the twitch too. I don't think it's mechanical, I think it's a glitch in the radio portion of the heli. It isn't usually too severe, but can throw off a new pilot. Just ignore it for the most part and you'll be fine. (If someone has figured out a fix for the twitch, I'd sure like to hear it).

Twitching tails are a part of this game, I have a beautiful ATOM 500 that twitches like it's got fleas. Can't seem to find out what's causing it. I keep saying that I'm going to change controllers, but you know how that goes!

Still enjoy the 200 for what it is. It will make you a better pilot. If you can get to the point where you can fly it with no stabilization (condition 3) then you can probably fly anything.

I rebuilt the tail again, wrapped the wires up in some electrical tape and ran them back through the boom. Hope it keeps working the way it has. Flew about 4 battery packs today in 3. I find it a lot more fun, at least more satisfying. The twitch isn't horribe, just had me concerned
