Advice needed with Kontroniks Heli jive 120
The metal cover/plate that the heat sink mounts onto came off my Heli Jive. Do I have to send it in for repair or can I glue it back on with Artic Silver or something?

On the record answer: Send it back.
Off the record: I think a tidy job with Arctic Silver would work fine.

Send me some links to choices. The one I had used to be carried by ReadHeli and was the typical silver based two part epoxy.

Arctic Silver manufacturers both thermal compounds and thermal adhesives.

Thanks Ace On their website is "thermal compounds" and "thermal adhesives" Under thermal compounds is: alumina, arctic silver 5, ceramique 2. Under thermal adhesives there is silver and alumina. Also they have a cleaner 1 & 2 should I get that too? Not sure what to with here.

Hi Kris, I'm going to let Ben answer since he's used the thermal adhesive before and which is the product I believe he's going to recommend.

I've only used their thermal compound for heat sinks to CPUs, etc. The thermal compound doesn't have any adhesive properties, it's just like grease and the electronic component used with it must be physically secured in place. The compound is just there to provide the thermal transfer.

The thermal silver product is what I was using. I think you can live without the cleaner. Just thoroughly clean the contacting surfaces and maybe wear latex gloves. The stuff sets in 5 minutes, so work quickly. Also use judicious pressure while it cures since the best heat transfer occurs with the thinnest layer of adhesive possible but with no air gaps.
