RJX Servo Problems
I am curious if anyone else has had issues with these servos. They run great with lots of torque but I have had 2 of these servos exhibit very strange behavior on 2 seperate occasions. The servo powers up and moves with the controls from my TX, but it has no torque and can easilly be moved by hand. The rest of the servos perform normally. After powering down and back up, the servo acts normal with equal torque and has flown fine. Both times it was only one servo that had an issue and the rest of the servos did not have the same behavior. Powering down and back up "fixed" the issue both times.

I like the RJX servos when flying and the performance is great. I have a few helis with 8717s and these RJX servos perform similar at half the price. Unfortunately the odd behavior has me worried. I have 4 sets of 8717s running HV in other helis for many years and never had an issue. I was planning on replacing the 1st RJX servo after I experienced this problem but now that a second RJX servo has done the same thing, I am questioning the servos overall and if I should use them or not. I hate to replace them all if this is just a fluke but I don't want to crash just to save a few bucks. Besides the RJX servos, all of my other large helis have JR or Futaba servos and I have not seen this issue with any of them after many years of flying.

Has anyone else had this issue with an RJX servo (or any other brand servo)? I thought it was just a fluke until a 2nd servo did the same thing.

RJX isn't generally known for quality servos...or anything else... Got a set of their FBL blades and they were horribly unbalanced. Their stuff is cheap for a reason.

I run a seperate 2s lipo to power the servos/ESCs. No BEC, I have a deans adapter that plugs into 2 of the channels on my RX. No switch or anything, the RX powers up when I plug in the RX lipo.

That may be a servo issue, then. The only problems that I've read about people having are when the servos are not initializing all the time when using a BEC but after cycling the power, they work correctly. The symptom you're describing sounds pretty much exactly like that. I have them on both of my N7s with straight 2S lipos and have never seen an issue.

You should see about having them replaced under warranty by the shop you bought them from. If you don't have any luck there, you can email support@rjxhobby.com. I just had one replaced by HK, recently. You might want to just go ahead and shoot an email to support@rjxhobby.com with a description of your problem and see what they say.
