New 450L Dominator 3gx settings
Ok, I have a 700 goblin and a Gaui X5. Both of those birds I have flown with AR7200BX Vbar and BD3sx. I decided I wanted something small and fun to fly at work during my lunch break, so I visited my local hobby store and purchased a 450L dominator.

Now the fun part. The build was pretty easy, however, I've never used a 3gx before and I didn't really want to sell it and buy another FBL controller if I already paid for one. I've been watching the Youtube videos on how to set it up. The DIR setup seems straight forward and I followed everything until I got the gyro flight adjustment, then I was completely lost.

To ask a simple question, could someone post their numbers for the 3gx setup for the 450L dominator. It would be nice to just input numbers that are flight tested and are known to work. My flying style is sport 3d, big air, not heavy smack or anything like that. More like hurricanes, funnels, piro flips and stuff like that.

A second question. I bought this kit 3 days ago. Does the disk reflect the latest version of the software, which is 5.0 right?

I'm using a Dx9 transmitter with one DSMX satellite on the 3gx.

Thanks in advance.

Another question. What are good numbers for the gain settings for the gyros which I set on the Transmitter. I understand that if I'm using a DX9 with a satellite I need to set channel 7 for Aux2 gyro gain. I was just looking for what numbers worked for you guys.

The disk will mostly not have the latest version
here is a download link

Only gain setting you can set thru the transmitter is tail to my knowledge.

You are going to love it. I also use the DX9. Your 3GX will probably have the 4.0 version. Go with it. It will work great.

My settings are

Normal throttle 0,50,55,60,75
IU 1. 75,65,65,65,75
IU 2. 80,65,65,65,80

Normal pitch 35,42,50,75,100
IU 1. 0,25,50,75,100
IU 2. 0,25,50,75,100

This works great for me. I do 3D but not a stick slammer. It's a powerful bird. You'll love it much.

Ok those values sound good. What did you set the flight mode settings to? As far as elevator flip rate adjustment, aileron roll rate adjustment, and collective and cyclic pitch dampening? Once again, I'm not a rookie, but I'm not Jamie Robertson either.

So, just leave the flight mode settings at the factory defaults and use the D/R expo stuff you just posted?

Also, I put in 30% gyro gain. Is that what you are supposed to see on the computer or the radio?

LOL. Well, when I maidened it, the tail lost control and I managed to not crash it, thanks to my awesome stationary pirouette practice. Turns out the torque tube is defective!!!! The one metal part at the end just free spins! I thought I had stripped out gears and stuff, not the case at all. Is this common with Align kits?

Wow. Great save. I'm glad you didn't crash, then they wouldn't believe your story. Yes, I just use default settings. The 30 % gain is what I found to be the best on mine and I know others with the 450 L that are also set to 30 %. One friend has his set at 25 %. This setting will be in your DX9.Life is good. I don't think your torque tube issue is common. This is the first time I've heard of this happening. Are you saying one end of the shaft came loose ?Life is good. Better with a bunch of Heli's

I'd set your TT bearing at least one inch off center or you could get vibrations.Life is good. Better with a bunch of Heli's

My torque tube end didn't break loose but it started to wobble inside the boom and rubbing on the boom. I just ordered new torque tube and since it came with the support bearing I put two on it now. I think the actual cause if the problem is the umbrella gears that the tube go into. They don't seem to be on center and cause the torque tube to wobble a little bit. Spin them by hand before you put it together you'll see what I'm talking about. Since double up the support bearings it doesn't seem to be a problem yet anyway.

Yes. One end of the shaft got stripped out. Ok I set the dx9 to make the computer read 30 which is like 56 percent in the radio. I'll go back and change that ****.

Yea, once I was hearing a noise in my Tube. After tracking down the problem I found out that my tail umbrella gear that comes straight out the end was not pushed all the way 100 % into the tail case. It will still fit and let you close the case but you must make sure it is pushed in all the way into the bearings so it will give the perfect clearance for the other gears. I hope this makes sense. I corrected this and the rubbing noise went away. Putting two bearings on the TT is a great idea. I'll do that the next time I'm in there although I've never had a problem with just one.Life is good. Flooz, going from 56 to 30 will certainly help you. I bet it was jittery and all over the place with 56. Caution, you are going to get addicted to this heli. 👍Life is good. Better with a bunch of Heli's
