loose pin
So, I have an e5 with 579 flights on it. I had a bearing go bad on the tt. Because of this, I am in the process of replacing all bearings. Therefore, I replaced the tail shaft as it seemed to be a loose fit in the new bearings. Fit is tight again. Anyways I fly at lunch everyday. Today, the pin that transmits torque from the tail shaft to the bevel gear almost came out. It was clacking on the aluminum bar that holds the tail case rear end together.

Do I need a new bevel gear and pin or will some CA do? It doesn't fall out, but I was able to push it back in with my fingers.

There is a set screw that goes down inside the end of the tail output shaft that holds that pin in place. If you forced the pin out without first loosening that set screw, you might have rounded the end of the set screw off.Chris Sexton

Good point.

Can't believe I forgot about that.

Thanks.
