kontronik bec power for flybarless
Hi, I am planing to use a bavarian demon flybarless unit on a scale vario helicopter, the bavarian demon requires 5.5 volts constant power supply, is the kontronik bec suitable for this,

I am using JR servos 4.8 volts 3 on cyclic jr DS 8915. I will be using 2x spektrum satellites and have read that people have had the satellites go into reset mode if they put quick demand on the servos Can someone tell me if I need to use a seperate higher voltage bec please.

Thank You.

The bd3sx needs 5.5v constant voltage (not amps as you said) when using sats-only. In your case I would recommend using the external rx-loom and a standard Rx. This is a lot more bulletproof imho. No real advantage saving space with sats-only on a big scalie anyway.

You should be ok using just the jive's bec, which is set by default at 5.6v. You can change this with the prog card2 if necessary depending on what your servos can handle.

If you do not feel confident with the internal bec you can always disable it (remove red rx wire) and use an external ubec or regulator. Really up to you.

cheers,
TomC

Progcard II won't work on a Jive.
Are you sure about that? According to the manual the ProgCard 2 is compatible with the JIVE.

The bavarianDEMON requires 4-10V (2S-LiPo-compatible, min. 5.5V when using Spektrum/JR satellites)

with your scale setup i am assuming you wont be getting many high amp spikes coming to the BEC. The Jive BEC should be stout enough to provide you with the voltage and current you require.Team Synergy, Team FBL Rotors-------if its not broke...it will be!

Always better be safe then sorry if you ask me.

Although a bench standard now for bec drops now it still does show bec vulnerability past the 5.5v:

Same kontronik BEC with Savox servos. Yes the savox are known to be power hungry but with 30% less torque output. JR/Futaba have been know to have lower amp draws but the question is does the amp draw savings go away once some extra torque is used by the system?

Doh...I had it wrong...

progcard I won't work on Heli Jive, I knew one of them didn't work on both.

My memory is fading
