My brother-in-law, who is a photographer, has a drone that he uses for legitimate purposes, but seeing what it can do makes me fear what it could do in the hands of a stalker (of course the NRA says that they should have guns, which trump my trivial concerns... )

Guess drone enthusiast need to classify drones as weapons, then they would have a constitutional right to fly....

Bunch of hoopla:

You can't put the genie back in the bottle.  UAVs are getting cheaper, better, easier, and more fun to use.Anything that can be used for nefarious purposes, will, regardless of what the law says.  Case in point... the inefficacy of gun legislation. The number of injuries from...reply

I guess we will have to wait until someone uses them for evil by attacking groups say at a football game and dropping c4 or a grenade into the crowd. I would bet no laws are enacted proactively until one is misused. There was a special on PBS that terrorists could fly several hundred into a...

Drones are raising all sorts of concerns.  And, rightly so.

I'm more concerned about the safety concerns.  I fear the day we learn of a passenger plane crashing because of interference by a drone.

I'm concerned about privacy, too.  But, no where near my concerns re safety.

There's definitely some serious hysteria involving "drones" when a teenager gets assaulted by a woman for flying a multirotor equipped with a GoPro over a beach. Why should she feel her privacy is any more violated by possibly being captured on a wide angle sport cam from 50 feet in the air,...

A toothbrush can be made into a shiev and used to stab and kill someone. It is long past the time we blamed the toothbrush and blamed the person.

It is the same with small aircraft. Anything can be made into a weapon...anything.

Exactly!

"Drones don't kill people...people kill people."

"When drones are outlawed...only outlaws will have drones."

Sound familiar?

I don't thinks they're calling it a weapon it's more likely
the capability of these things.
We love the hobby but some guy just make it bad when they start doing outrageous thing.

"Just like the guy who equip is Trex 700 with a AR 15, these
type of activities create awareness and anxiety).
