worn out aluminum pinion
I had originally gotten 12T Scorpion pinion for the X3. Well, after many flights (maybe 40+), I stripped a main gear, replaced it, then it stripped again almost immediately. Looked around on other forums and saw where a "normal" aluminum pinion will wear down so much it will almost not engage. When I took a good look at mine, this was the case... I ordered and installed Lynx:

Should last a while... I wish I had known about this issue before

Thank you.

Yes, I was wondering why they used aluminum too. I would think that brass or bronze and steel would be the way to go. But what do I know, maybe there is a good reason or reasons for using aluminum for the pinion gears.

New Lynx pinion working perfectly. I also wanted to mention that going down from 12T to 11T is miraculous. I'm not a screaming balls-out 3D'er, and the 12T screaming X3 has been calmed down by the 11T pinion, and it is a JOY to fly at a lower (and quieter) headspeed.
