Hobby Hut in Noristown PA is the only heli hobby shop that I have ever been to in the area that was actually well stocked and priced with RC helis. I have often ordered from their web site, and whenever passing down the PA turnpike ( I live in NJ ) I would try and stop by when possible ..

I dropped by yesterday to find the door closed, and a sign saying they would not be open and only to call the # listed to get back any helis left for consignment. The web site is down, and no message or answer on the phone.

Through the window the store looks well stocked as if business as usual ..

anyone know what happened ? I hope they will reopen, as this would be a great loss the hobby in the area

also, does anyone know if the car track/raceway is affected as well by this ?

sad loss if this is true. Al the owner is a great guy. the last time i was in the store was being run by a bunch of kids . they were out of the trex 500 front tt gear so wanted to order one they sad they cant as they would have to buy minimum qty ?? what you wont order a part that you normally stock bc u would have to buy 5 of them ?? trex parts n kits is what has saved hh. they do have a big car/truck following. so i went in a month ago to buy a pulse pack for my logo wanted the 35c 5000 6s well they didnt have 5000 so i settled for a 45c 4500, 124.00 so i remember seeing their add 10% off on the web site. it was sum thing like spend ur tax return here and save 10% it didnt specify web or store so i asked ? one kid asks the other kid who asked the other guy who had to call ???? first off 7yrs ago when i first started shopping there bought 2 kits + tx. like 3k total they were giving me a 10% off every things i bought no ?s NOW i got to go through three kids and a call to get 12$ off a 124 battery ?? seems to me it shouldn't of been a problem ?? well finally after 15min of bs they gave me the discount. well last time i ll shop there sad then i sent a email to hh about qww inventory to see if they wanted some of it ? no response

seems to me the place was being mismanaged and hopefully sum one will take it over and run it the way it should be. seems since wayne left its in a flat spin downward IMHO

HH was sold about 2 years ago. "Al" as far as I know has not been involved in the store since then. It it really sad what has happened to the shop. I saw the shop slowly declining after the sale and over the last year it really went down hill. Tough business to be in. After HH pulled their Ad off of RR I knew it wouldn't be long before they closed, it was only 6 month. I'm hoping somebody picks the business up.

Damn that ground is hard! When's the right time to get out of this money sucking hobby?

A couple weeks ago I was looking at the site online to buy somethings. Now I just looked after reading this and it says down for maintenance. Does it really mean more like "GONE" politely?

I ordered a few trex 600 parts that the website said were in stock.
turns out they had to order them from someone else and waited till they showed up and then ship them to me.
2 weeks to get parts from a store that is 4 hours away and I could have bought the parts in California and had them in 3 days.

A great hobby shop gone. I'm going to miss it, it's only about 3 1/2 miles from my place. Bought a lot of fuel and parts and parts and more parts there. Guess now it's back to ordering parts online again.

They had a 1 day liquidation sale the day of closing that was it there has been no new information as to what's going to happen next. I fly at the field next to where hobby hut was/is and us guys have heard nothing. So as far as we know the bank is in control at this point. Hobby Hut was a great hobby store but poor management after the sale of the store did them in.

I'm hoping that an investor picks it up but I'm worried that to start fresh with the HH name it's going to take a boat load of money just to get going again. Not to mention getting the customer base back.

The hobby heli market is continuing to make a correction. There are too many manufacturers and vendors chasing the same dollar.

There will be more stories like this to come...

It seems to always happen to a business. They get bought out and then go out of business afterwards. I am sorry to hear that they didn't make it. I think one big risk is having to stock lots of parts. All of those parts add up to a considerable amount of money being tied up too.

I used Hobby Hut in the past, hate to hear of another one going under.

Our LHS is carrying quads, got to have a pulse on the market and stay with the times.
