As a rule of thumb, how many flights when it is time to check or change Feathering shaft rubber damper for wear and tear assuming no crashes involved? trex 450 to trex700 sizes. Is it subjective? Thank you for your inputs.

I change the rubber dampeners when I detect that they are becoming soft... specifically when I notice that there is play when I wiggle the head/blades. On my stock Compass Atom dampeners this happens after around 50 to 60 flights. I have since switched to harder KBDD lime green dampeners and so far they are holding out.

Should be part of the pre-flight checks, if you can visually rock the blade grips with your hands it's time to change the dampeners.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Agree... but make it post flight. I don't keep a spare set lying about. Pre-flight makes it easy to ignore and fly anyway.

Two ways to tell...first one is by hand, rocking the head up and down. And two, while flying...perform a loop, when the heli exsits the loop, it shouldn't bobble un/down. If it does, its time to change the dampners. As for a schedule of when to change them...it all depends on your flying style. The harder you fly your heli, the sooner you will need to change the dampners.
