Hi guys

cant work out why. When I move rudder to the right the tail kicks/bouces back a bit when I centre stick, its ok when I move to the left. Gyro gain is a 80%, using 3gx v4

Try setting your rudder linkage for zero yaw in rate mode, reset your travel limits.

V4.0 did some weird things to the HH gyro function that made it act as yours does. Not all people saw it, many did. I tried V4.0 quite a few times on multiple helicopters, hoping to make it behave and had little success.

V5.0 was released fairly recently. The only setup change I have had to make in my fleet is to make sure that the heli will hover in Rate mode with no tendency to yaw left or right. V5.0 works well and the tail rotor behavior is quite good.

Setting the tail rotor linkage for zero yaw in rate mode seems to take care of the odd behavior in V5.0. I have not had to go start messing with the tail lock gain as many suggested for V4.0.

Also check you have maxxed out the left rudder limit, there are ways of increasing the left rudder limit with a Dremel, just take a look at the area that is actually binding and limiting the travel.

It's all about equalising the stops. A trick I learned a few years ago is to offset the tail servo arm as if giving right rudder pitch. You will still need to set some hovering tail pitch but instead of having the servo arm at 90 degrees, you would set it around 70-80 degrees (towards the tail if front mounted servo, towards the nose if boom mounted), this equalises the tail servos travel left and right and so helps equalise the stops from left and right piros.

60% of the time, it works every time!
