I'd contact FMA to see if can be serviced.

If the repairs are cost prohibitive, there are lots of great chargers now. I had the pleasure of beta testing FMA's latest product, the Dual Powerlab.

There are also some good offering from other vendors. Take a look at ProgressiveRc's charger page for the latest.

I'm also looking at getting an extra charger capable of charging 2 6s packs at a time. I'd like it to be capable of at least 8s per channel for a little future proofing

I have had good luck in the past with both Revolectrix (Cellpro4) and iCharger ( well actually 2 Voltz 101K chargers )

I'm looking at either the dual Powerlab 8x2, or the iCharger 4010 DUO.

Any comments from those who have used at least one of the above, preferably that have used both?

Thanks!

I have the DPL8...much more than just a charger.
I chose it over the 4010 because it seemed to have fewer problem reports, PC based interface with graphing and storage capabilities, and it is more powerful and a more substantial piece of equipment.

Nick from RCHelination has both chargers. Here's his review of the Dual Powerlab.

I've been using a iCharger 4010Duo for the last couple of months. I also have a 3010 and I couldn't be happier with both. It has reduced the time I spend fussing with batteries greatly. The 4010 in particular both charges and discharges very efficiently.

Here is a little vid of the discharger I made for 4010. I used it yesterday to test a pack that wasn't lasting as long as I thought it should. I find it really convenient to be able to charge and then discharge a pack in 20 to 40 minutes and know what its true performance is. While I have been able to do this in the past with other charges, it might have taken hour. When I take the time to hook up the laptop, I get really wonderful graphs of the packs performance and can graphically see and compare a packs performance to other batteries and to the packs past condition. https://rc.runryder.com/t767703p1/

It's a pretty crummy video but I just threw it up to give a few friends an idea of what I'd been up to.

I can't comment on the FMA products. While I don't have personal experience with them, they have a great reputation.

Cheers,

Bill
