Hmmm.Lets see. I only used the Tactic module on a SPM Tx a couple times but IIRC the module needs to be powered from somewhere. It cant power itself through the SPM Trainer port alone. When used with a DX7(original) or DX6i the second lead(power) on the Tactic can get power out of the charge jack because those radios have a direct connection to the pack power/voltage and the power can backfeed out of the charge port.
On the DX8 the charge port is different. It is a power supply input. There is other circuitry that regulates the charge inside the Tx.
It doesnt allow voltage/power to be able to backfeed out of the charge port.
So you have to find a way to power the module from somewhere else.IIRC correctly there is a Y adapter kind of thing you plug the pack into inside the battery compartmant. One of the Y ends goes to the Tx where the pack normally plugs in and the other has an end on it to plug the Tactic into.
The other option is to get another small pack to mount somewhere to power the Tactic.

What receiver is in your AXE? Is it Spektrum compatible? As the AXE is a Great Planes product, it wouldn't support Spektrum or JR 2.4 GHz radios unless you have replaced the stock receiver.

AHA -- you're using the ANY LINK whiz bang. Is THAT unit compatible with the AXE receiver? Or have you installed a compatible receiver in the AXE?

Yep.The Tactic is the AnyLink module. The Axe is AnyLink.I think they call it SLT. Its a neat little option. I do remember the couple little tiny plank things I played with on it had somewhat limited range.Probably farther than most would fly a micro though anyway.
Close proximity micros/minis it works pretty good.

DX7(original)? Thats what I used one with.
No you dont need the Bind button on the DX7 itself. All you are doing is taking power from the radio to power the module. You are taking the PPM signal out of the Trainer port. When you plug in the Trainer plug the DX7 should powerup the central processing system. The RF part of the Tx does not powerup or operate. The RF is all in the module now.
Any binding you do will be between the Anylink module itself and the Rx.
I dont remember exactly what the process is but the Bind button you are using should be on the Module itself.

Are you following the instructions in the Tactic manual explicitly?
First thing to confirm is that you are powering it with the correct voltage.

Is this the Tactic or Tactic 2 module? I guess I might have to read the manual again.

Are you sure you dont have the power switch for the DX7 turned on? It must be Off or the power from the charge port is disconnected.

With the Tx on did you push Bind button on Rx and hold until led goes out and then release? Your details arent matching what Im seeing in the manual. Read the manual.

How are you connecting a DX7SE to anything since the DX7SE has no buddy box output port?

There is nowhere to plug an Anylink in.

Ok.As far as I remember the dsc port and hardware are still on the SE model but it most definitely does not support trainer data out.
You cannot use Anylink with a DX7se.
