Guy's anyone know if metal blade grips are available anywhere for the VR22 head, I would like to up my headspeed to 1000 rpm and not sure if the grips can take it, building the big 1/4 scale Jet Ranger as an electric conversion and at the recommended speed am having slight tail issues that go away at 950 to 1000 rpm, just not sure if it will hold together at those speeds.

Try changing the tail gears first to increase the rpm - although this will also increase the wear rate - failing that, we could always machine some ?

Thanks Nigel, will see what gears I can find ?

Antja, thanks, these blades are 1090 long and Vario state the head speed should not exceed I THINK 845 rpm, so you can see why I am concerned lol.
I am fairly certain that at say 950 I shouldn't have an issue, as I feel Vario will have built in a decent safety margin for stresses, but would like to be sure.

Sats, have you considered a wider chord tail blade?
Barry

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!

Ian my R22 was tach'd at 1150 after I'd replaced the servos and the set up was not quite correct
it ran for a good while like it without any problems
idle up is now set with this head speed for the very windy days that it get flown in
