Will a Kontronic Pyro 700-450L do the job in a logo 690SX ??
If so which pinion ??

Only asking because I've got the above motor from another of my machines that I recently sold.

Thanks

Better download the revised Logo 690 manual from Mikado.
They've added a warning on the second page regarding using only the supplied Scorpion motor and +-11 deg max pitch setting. Apparently the OWB failures have them spooked. Looks like the drive train may not be as robust as they would have liked it to be.

They've added a warning
The model has shipped with that warning from the beginning.

There was logically a question about whether the new OWB being "30% stronger" than the original design means that the warning can be lifted - Eddi responded to that directly on the vstabi forum with this:
The factory recommendation for max. rpm (also defined by the power train and gear ratio) and for maximum collective pitch angles remain.

Exceeding the recommendation will not inevitably lead to the destruction of the model, but it happens at your own discretion and at your own risk.
The new design is significantly stronger and we all benefit from it.

The original manual posted on Mikado did not include the disclaimer. I still have the pdf I downloaded. I don't have the manual I got with the model at hand (it's 8000 miles from where I am at the moment) but I'll check when I can.
In any case, I can't say I have a lot of confidence my 690 at the moment. I'll still fly it but with that little voice in the back of my mind.
None of my other helis nor any I'm aware of dictate that the owner adheres to an exclusive motor/pinion combination at the risk of failure.
Will Mikado stop selling the kit sans motor now?

It wasn't in the manual. There was a yellow insert included in all of the kits that shipped, at least in the U.S. which had that warning. It was mentioned either here or the other forum back when they first shipped, but I don't have a link handy.

The 690sx was a deliberate decision to allow for using the existing molded-frame and gear arrangement on a 700 with only minor tweaks to be tossed around in modern 3D fashion (aka smack). In order to do that without destroying the small gear train they had to allow for a larger pinion, which means running a lower kV motor. That's the reason for the motor constraint. They have said that you don't have to run the custom Scorpion motor, but you do need to run a motor the allows for the larger pinion.

As for the RPM and collective constraints, those are in every Mikado model manual (and most other brands as well) that I've seen and I've never really paid much attention to them. I recognize that by running outside those specs I am risking premature component failure or other issues, and I'm fine with it.

From the manual;

"Warning:The LOGO 690 SX is designed to be used with Scorpion motor HK 4525-370 Kv and a 15 teeth pinion exclusively. Do not use any other motors of any kind, as this can cause damage or failure of the gear train. It is absolutely essential to keep within the recommended pitch range from +/- 11°. Otherwise the one way bearing will be damaged."

That's unambiguous.

I have neither the need or desire to argue; I am confident the information I provided is accurate. Whether the reader chooses to accept it is up to the reader. If there are questions, I'd be happy to help get them answered.

If you, as a Mikado rep, don't like what the company has to say about it's product that's not my problem. I merely quoted the information Mikado published and it is at odds with your statement.
After thoughtful consideration of the many offerings available I bought a Mikado product. That doesn't make me a Mikado cheerleader. A spade is a spade.

Mikado reps have to be biased…I completely agree. I am a rep and I am biased
I also can say if you look at the track record for Mikado you will see a long line of reliability and IF there is an issue, it is corrected in a timely manner at No COST to the customer. You will be fine
