So now that the 690SX is getting close to shipping out of Germany, who has one pre-ordered and what setups are you planning on going with on them?

I'm thinking about:

Stock Scorpion motor
VBar Silverline with vControl
New Savox 2284 servos
YGE 120HV ESC
WR 15A regulator
12s 5000mah stick packs (not sure of the brand yet)

Lets hear it boys, what are you thinking for your setup????

I personally don't like having to remember to charge a 2s pack. I run a regulator and scorpion backup guard on all of my machines.

Fair warning, Scorpion backup guard is not designed for use in large HV systems. Anecdotal evidence suggests it's fine but... vstabi testing shows it's unwise. Also you have to remember to keep the Scorpion BUG charged. The Optipower Ultraguard is designed for high-draw HV systems and is self-charging so really is a much better overall solution, at least in theory (I have yet to try it).

Personally I run a 2S LiPo with a dual bus regulator that has a low-voltage alarm built-in. It would be tricky to find a home for it on a plastic frame logo, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to run it on the 690sx, but I love it in my 700 XXtreme.

Probably on the 690sx just due to space constraints I would run a Jive Pro 120 (assuming it's released soon) with its Kosmik-grade BEC and an Ultraguard backup.

Thanks for the post hemp. I'll have to look into all of that. Strangely this will be my first hv setup. I've been running bls451s at 6v for years on my logos.

My setup:
Stock Scorpion motor
Torq 9180 cyclics
Torq 9188 tail
Bavarian Demon 3SX
R7003SB receiver
2S 1900 TP Rx pack telemetering pack voltage to 14SG via the R7003SB's ext. voltage port.
Thomas Jorgensen's eFuel-Gauge telemetering battery usage to 14SG via the R7003SB SB2 port.
GensAce 4400 65C LiPos (because it can share them with my 6S Synergy E5)
Powerjive 120HV
or
CC Edge 120HV (Have both. Will decide which one to use later.)

c'mon Mikado.... hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry!!!

Be aware, some backup solutions may not meet the requirements of a buffer pack as recommended by KONTRONIK.

There is a lengthy discussion of this subject in this thread:

That's correct. And you may not be trying to provide a buffer pack but just a backup solution, in which case it's fine. Although it's a good point that running a buffer pack with a BEC that supports it is a good idea to address back-EMF, especially depending on which components are in the system.

Something in the 360-400Kv range, with an 6mm shaft, not more than 50mm in can diameter will work

Are there any pyro motor that you know off Ron, that meet that meet the 690 specifications. As I wanted a complete kontronik drive waiting for the new jive to be released.

Kontronik doesn't currently have a solution for the 690SX using the 15t pinion. The 340kV Pyro was designed as a low head speed, low current draw application such as flying a TDR around at 1000rpm. We will be running that motor MUCH harder than it was designed for and at that low of an rpm, cooling may be an issue, as it was optimized for the 520kV and up rpm range when really pushed.

I am sure it will work, but just not optimal or advised by Kontronik currently.

I have been in communication with them and will let everyone know if/when there is a specific solution for the 690SX with the 15t pinion.

For now the options are the Scorpion or run a Pyro 700/750 with higher kV and 11 or 12t pinion.

Maidened my 690 today, awesome heli, Kontronik 700-34L motor on 14 tooth pinion is right on the money for me, at 1750 rpm there is plenty of power and motor is not getting too hot :-)
