OK, I bit and went all in. Delivery should be mid 2015. Oh boy, it looks good and I hope they can pull this off!

An over grown spyder but in stead of your arse being in the air it rides on the ground in a cage. No thanks, rode a spyder about a month ago and really didn't care for it, felt like I was riding my atv on the road.

Damn that ground is hard! When's the right time to get out of this money sucking hobby?

I don't see why they can't put 2 tiers in the back, it sure wouldn't cost much more to do so, and it would be much safer

For the same reason you can't spell "tires".

Why would you want them in the back? What would be the difference? I haven't rode the Spyder yet, but I assume it's a bit easier to not roll as the traditional trike is. But that's just an assumption.

With 4 tires it's a car. That means a whole different can of worms of rules and regulations. The result? Increased costs.

With 3 tires it is legally motorcycle. That results in a less stringent set of rules and regulations.

Pretty neat, but it seems like it would be uncomfortable wearing a helmet in states where they are required. Might need a spotter like a NASCAR driver.

While there can be endless debate regarding the safety of motorcycles versus cars, with it's full cage. seat belts, and airbags is certainly has the potential to be safer than a standard 2 wheeled motorcycle.

Regarding helmets, as an example, Massachusetts is a "helmet" state. But this vehicle is exempt from that requirement due to the enclosed/caged operator/passenger compartment.

If NC has such an exception, I think this would be a very fun vehicle.

http://www.shreveporttimes.com/view...Miss-helmet-law

As cool as it is it does create a whole new can of worms regarding helmet laws. I do see that Louisiana has exempted the law for the car but you have 49 more states to go. And what about insurance??

This ride has a lot of question marks and I hope they can work them out because it would be a shame to not bring this to market.

BTY......back to my original post on the BMW Isetta how would all these same questions be asked if I were to buy one of those ??

There is something wrong in my mind about 2 tires up front and only one in back that just does not appeal to my liking. It just seems kinda silly.

Perhaps it's because it's just to European. No offense against Europeans of course. They just got different tastes than we do I guess.

The company I work for tried to incubate Aptera. I think it looks better than the Elio. Unlike the Elio which is going by as a motorcycle, Aptera was trying to be recognized as a car. It even went through the same safety testing as a car and exceeded expectations even though it only had 3 wheels. In the end, it's demise was a the red tape of saying it's a motorcycle. Some people worried about the shell, but due to the composite materials used and its roundish shape, it was actually stronger than most car and SUV passenger compartments on the road.

BTW, it even did a cameo in the 2009 Star Trek movie.
