Yeah, I think the commentary is better than the video itself.

His audience all run towards the carnage while he keeps jabbering, ultimately, to himself.

"The goblin... Speed.. Is.........deeaaddddd!"

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

When he said the goblin speed is dead I just lost it,i never seen a heli eat it self like that, had to throw a blade or boom strike is my guess.

inverted pushover to inside loop... that was a boom strike.

I don't believe so

That is becoming the prefer transition for speed turnarounds to keep momentum and pick up speed. Correctly done, positive pitch is applied first and almost no cyclic pulling is done.
Something let go in that heli, and it let go in a big way.

Still, I think the narrator is the star on this video.

inverted pushover, the blades are away from the boom. The half loop part, the blades get closer to the boom, maybe that plus the boom flexes too much causes the boom-strike.

The other possibility is the canopy let go... man, I hate when that happens.

its turning over 2500RPMs, I doubt the disk/blades are moving a whole lot in or out of the neutral plane. BTW that boom does not flex. My spidy sense says something had to let go, as in break or fail structuraly for it to eat itself.
Too bad we don't have a better close up when it happens.
Remember, with HUGE power, comes HUGE responsability...

The announcer mentioned that it may have gone supersonic. I calculated that the peak blade speed was only around 895 fps using a head speed of 2500 rpm and a forward speed of 120 mph. So, no, it did not go close to supersonic, which is 1132 fps at sea level.

It looked like the canopy let go. That would cause a blade strike and subsequent failure.

it did not go close to supersonic,
yeah, I agree.
I have seen Gobler canopies coming off in flight and get rotor chopped at our local field, several times, and the aftermath is nowhere as bad. (right Steve?)

But I have no safety concerns about the G Speed going this years speed cup, I trust SAB has done due diligence on the head components and therefore their warning about never exceeding 2600rpm.
This is likely a freaky accident.
