What SD cards are you using in your 14SG's. I have tried three different ones and none of them work. I have tried a 8G and 2 different 32G cards.

Here is how I am doing it.
1. Put the SD card in the radio
2. Turn on the radio and allow to format
3. Turn off the radio and remove the SD card
4. Stick the SD card into my computer
5. Computer states that there is NO memory available on the card.

What am I doing wrong?

According to the manual, the max size for the SD card is 2 gig, SDHC is 4Gb - 32 GB.

Then you need to format it with the 14sg.

Look at page 19 of the manual for a few more gotchas.

I'm guessing you are not using the file utility? You can't read and write directly to the card in windows. You have to use the program.

I wouldn't try anything higher than a 2G card. Really don't need higher anyway for model storage. I know they're harder to find now but they are out there.

Okay, I have read pg 19 in the manual again. I have watch a YouTube video of a guy updating his. And for some reason I am stuck.

I have tried a 32mb, 2g, 4g, 8g and a 32g card. All which are in the range the manual says will work. After formatting the SD card on the radio. I take the card out and put in in the computer. I go to "my computer" and it says I have NO FREE space. I open up the futaba "file utility" program and shows I have over 3000 model spaces available. I do not see a way to upload files using the " file utility" program.

What step am I missing?

If you are just trying to use the SD card, put it in the tranmsitter and format it. Then, you're ready to go. If you want to store the model files on the PC, you'll need the file utility. That will let you see the models stored on the card and allow you to copy them to your hard drive in the PD.

If you are trying to save a model file to the PC, then you will need to export it from the SD card. A dialog box comes up so that you can select the destination of the exported information. This is all described in the instructions that come with the file utility. When you download the zip file, you have a .pdf of the instructions along with the executable file.

I don't think I clearly stated what I am trying to do.

I am trying to UPDATE my 14sg. After formatting the SD card in the radio, it says I have no room on it to save the files required to update the radio.

After formatting the card in the radio go here: http://futabarc.com/software-updates.html
and download version 4.0 for the 14SG, inside you will find the procedures to update the radio.

Hope that helps,
-Doug

DougV is correct. You must run the update executable that comes in the .zip file. That will ask you for the location of the SD card, and it will then install the files on the card. You then put the card in the transmiter, hold the HOME/EXIT button while you turn on the transmitter. The update process will begin. When it's finished, turn off the transmitter and it will be ready to go the next time you turn it on.

14SG SD Card backing up a model
I am a beginner and have a new Futaba 14GS along with a DJI F550 setup for FPV and GoPro.

I have tried to back up my program data and so far only succeeded in crating a clone of my original model. Please tell me how to back up my F550 data so if I make some changes I can get back to square one.

I am very pleased to find this forum and all the great information available... Thank you

Just save the model on the SD card then put it away. Use the model data in the 14SG for flying and if you need to revert back, just reinsert the SD card and copy the model over.

Copy file from PC to 14SG
Can someone please tell me how I can copy the model file from my computer back to my 14SG. I used the Futaba file utility to copy it to the computer originally, but can't see how to copy/convert it back.

Thanks

Try to Copy a Model to SD Card. Futaba 14 SH
I wanted to backup my Models. I select the model press copy but it only give me the option of TX or ADD LIST ? No option to copy to SD card. I have tried two different cards but no option to copy to the card.

I used one of these cards to do version 5 update and the speech update. So the TX will use them to transfer date in but not out ?

To copy the model data. I created a copy of the model. The model name with a suffix -1. Then select the copied model, select copy, select TX, then change TX to CARD, select. This moves the data to the card. Then I removed the card and deleted all the -1 models from my list. Now I have a back up. The 32 GB cards work no problem to perform updates or backup data.

(Thanks Byron for the help)
