I haven't bought a $250 packs in about 2 years, I have been using the $150 LiPos and have been happy with the performance on my 90 machines. I also been having really good performance and luck from smaller green ones for my 500 as well with no complaints.
No puffing, good low IR's, and lots of power, is anyone else having the same luck?

Same. That being said Thunder Power is awesome when you have a warranty issue.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

Its been years since I paid over two hundred for a pack, and STILL feel
embarrassed that I did so. That was back in the TP/FP days, and had a
lot of those go bad prematurely, don't miss the brands or the prices.
No, I have not tried the latest generation of TPs, but the prices are still there.
Have had great luck w. packs half the price for at least the last 4-5 yrs. Voltz, Thors, Glaciers, I even had some very good use out of Outrage at the time......still have one actually. And SOME luck w.
Zippys/Flightmax.

I will probably stay w. something in the Gens Ace/Pulse/Glacier area
when needing some more....keep seeing where those are basically all the
same battery anyway.

Waste of money. Glaciers are great and warranty on par with the expensive brands.

If they offer a size you can use, Hobby People brand is the best IMHO. Super warranty, too.

Thunder Power always failed me. Always. Never again.

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

I have had good luck with the turnigy, pulse, and sky packs I have. But Im not to hard on packs as I don't 3d, run pretty low headspead compared to others with same size birds and I never run my packs below 3.7 volt per cell. But that being said I try to stay atleast 20c higher than what I think my system will require(ie if it will take 20c 5000's) on the cheaper batteries I try to find 40c

Favorite so far is Thor.

LHS now carries Extreme Power. I like Thor better. I've already returned one Extreme Power because a cell went bad.

Never heard of Glaciers. Where do you buy them?

Saturday morning I flew my helicopter in my pajamas
How it got in my pajamas I'll never know

Pulse ultra and gens ace are the only two I will invest n trust in had some new hk specials puff less then 5 flights ;( on my trex 500

Had a used tp that I got from a rep with little usage as he was going to school I put 3 flights on it and Its got a beat cell the charges to 4.25 while others r at 3.95 so that pack cost me as I was a second owner got a used fp yrs ago and same deal got. 30 some flights and it started loosing its go n I was data loging so I thought I had 2 more minutes went up n got into a circuit n she went into low v mode n I nosed it in so won't jinx my bird with under quality lipos any more not with wasting a set of main blades for a less expensive lipo

so in ending a long speech but pulse or gens ace and you will never look back

Rockohaulic,

I get mine from Buddy RC (buddyrc.com). My LHS also carries them.

They have been working great for me.

Buddy RC is a great place to buy from, they carry a good line of charge cables, adapter, etc.

Yep!
Glaciers from Buddy RC are a great value...no more TP for me either.
I'm glad I only paid ~1/2 price for my TP's, used...still not worth it IMO.

Align 550 DFC ,,,bought a Pulse six cell 550 45c for 149 bucks and a Glacier 5800 for 125 bucks or so. Both perform well for me and cant tell a difference between them.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Back in the day I was a die hard Thunder Power/Flight Power fan and ran their batteries exclusively. However now days the lesser alternatives have gotten really good.

I've switched to Pulse batteries and very happy. Pulse, Glacier, and Gens Ace are all from the same factory, common knowledge online. I chose Pulse over the other two because the customer service I get from Helidirect has been awesome. I had one bad Pulse battery (one cell bad) to date and they immediately replaced it no questions asked. They shipped the replacement 24 hours after receiving the bad one.

I don't get it?

A Pulse Ultra 5000mAh 65C is ~$200.00 with 90 Day Warranty.

The ThunderPower 5000mAh 70C is ~$250.00 with a 2 year Warranty and a 1 year Crash Replacement at 50% off.

In the last 8 or so years that I have been using ThunderPower Batteries I have yet to have one puff.

Don't get me wrong Pulse batteries are fine batteries, but you get a lot better warranty for an extra $50.00.

I don't have any ties with ThunderPower. I just like their batteries and warranty.

Try $170 for a Pulse 5000 65C.

http://www.helidirect.com/plu65-500...ies-p-26538.hdx

Also I only buy the Pulse 45C and have yet to have one come down anymore than slightly above ambient which means they are very underrated. So for me those Pulse 5000 45C packs are $140.

When comparing $250 vs. $140, the decision is very simple. And this is coming from someone that spent easily $5k on TP batteries in the past.

$200!
Where did you pay that much for a Pulse 65C?
I would get my money back, or at least ask for the difference of $40-50. One can pick them up for $160 a piece with free shipping, there's also the coupons they always send to your email, even as low as $130 when they have sales on them. HD is always having sales.

Its a competitive market my friend, $250 was acceptable 5-10 years ago. My TP packs never came with protective metal on them, I can't tell you how many times I have had frames or something sharp cut into my packs that don't have them.
