Nothing to add. The X50 has been discontinued with parts support to remain intact well into the future. No word at his point on what might come to replace it.

I would like to know what killed the X50. Poor sales, a new version in the pipe? Is Align really owning the mass market that much that others can't compete? To me it seemed like an excellent machine that would be around for a long time, like the raptors. I can think of a few mods I would like to see in an update but not enough to kill the entire line. It seems stupid that the old school raptors are still around but the vastly updated X50 is dead.

Not jumping ship, at least while the parts support is there, or if I have a rekit. I enjoy flying it too much.

Agree why does it have to be discontinued, find it most annoying one goes out and buys the thing and a few years later they stop making it,I dont get it

Part of my reason for buying X50's was that I was expecting the model to be available for years to come, going by the longevity of the Raptor 30/50.

Discontinuing the X50 so soon makes me wary of buying another TT heli.
Don't matter how great it flies if you can't get parts for it...

That being said, my 12s X50e is my favourite bird atm, stable and predictable, a light feel with tons of power.

I'm just hoping that parts availability will not be an issue for years, fingers crossed...

Relax people. I fully understand concerns about parts. There is no indication or historical precedence for assumptions that you are suddenly going to be unable to source parts for the X50. Its whole head is used on the E550. Give them a chance to answer. Remember this is the same company that released such innovative and affordable designs like the E700.

I know its totally different but when MA shut down parts went in a few months and now the X50 dies. I know closing a company is way different than stopping one line of kits. Its just confusing when the old style raptors are still being made. I still think they must have a new 50/600 size line coming out but it would be nice if they put out an ad.

Well... Thunder Tiger changed distributers from Ace Hobby to Hobbico/Great Planes. It is rare that Great Planes takes over something that one of two things doesn't happen. The price jumps noticeably, or, it is discontinued.

Sometimes it's both - 1st the first happens then the second happens.

Sometimes a model is discontinued only to be replaced by a "new" model that is surprisingly similar to the old model, just 30 dollars more.

You're likely right, Don S. There are several (not very many) 600 sized nitro birds on the market. But it's probably a very much smaller market than when the X50 was introduced. So mnay more smaller models in the electric market to entice buyers. Look at all of Gaui's little offerings. Whatever the case, I will enjoy the heck out of mine for as long as there are parts. I will probably want something different before I can't get parts. TT has supported all their models well with parts. And Tower usually has them in stock too.

Sorry to disagree, wjvail, but I don't think Hobbico has alot to do with this. And I am not speaking from knowledge, so I may be way off. I think it's simply that the market is constantly changing, and the sellers much change to compete. Additionally, many heli enthusiasts don't seem to want continually the newest products. I've really enjoy this bird alot, but it's not the latest model in the class for sure. It's likely simply that the electric market is eating the nitros' lunch.

Discontinued or not, I would still like to own one. This heli must be amazing as far as I can tell because you rarely ever see an airframe on the classifieds!

I've seen a few in the classifieds in the past couple of months. Ron Lund also has the FB version in stock.

Yes I saw the two in the classifieds. The fbl is a package unfortunately, not just an airframe.

The X50 was released in 2010. Check any other mfg and see which ones keep a model around for that long without some kind of major revision or replacement. Those that try not to get accused of not being progressive or cutting edge. Ask Hirobo about that with SDX. Using the discontinuation of one kit after four years as a reason to avoid the whole brand is among the most short sighted and ill advised ideas that I've heard in a good while. Hobbico will indeed move away from specific products which do not sell well. It's a business and they need to be profitable, but to be clear, Hobbico had nothing to do with TT d/c'ing the X50. Do it the other way like MA for example and you'll quickly read your company obituary.
