There is a UAV based on the Kaman K-MAX helicopter, which is a US design.

As far as I know the UAV version of the Blackhawk was abandoned two years ago.

Not quite . . . This is the origin of the K-Max, from Germany,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flettner_Fl_282

The US military is not using a heli based on the K-max
. . . it IS a K-Max configured with remote control.

What makes that Enstrom video so funny is that guy still can't even hover an RC heli let alone fly one!,

Yes, Airwolf, I'm aware of the early German designs such as the Flettner. By "US design," I mean the helicopter was designed in the US, as opposed to the OP's claim that it was a Kamov.

When I mentioned the the UAV was BASED on the Kamax, you can loosely interpret that as being a Kamax with a UAV flight control package.

Loosen up, man. I bow to your superior Google skills.

I only use Google to corroborate my comments, not to formulate them in the first place.

In this case, I knew of the Flettner from a video of a military air show from just after WWII. There it was, only the rotor head showing, buried behind some other captured aircraft.
