Contact wren uk as last time I was there they had complete sets of them that was last yr but I think they will still have them. It will make a nice heli I have one and its great :-). The only thing I would say is that predator spares are getting a bit hard to get now :-(.

Speak to Mike or Leonie at Wren.

Good luck.

Gasser turbine conversion
Thanks, I have a flatbed cnc large enough to cut my own sideframes and baseplates,
In the worse case senario, where you could not buy the conversion, with a set of detailed instructions, I can draw and machine them
I know of a Guy here in the UK who still has some, but his business dealings leave a lot to be desired
If it was cash on collection, but that is not possible for you, then I would give you his details

Hi scorpion I will give them a call for you today and let you know later what I find out. You will not find them on the website it is old stock they have from when they was producing the conversions.

Darren.

Hi Scorpion,

I have spoken to wren uk and they think that they have enough bits for 1 complete set. If you email them Lionie was going to look into it for you.

Good luck

Darren.

Hi Guys

Its nice to see these birds still flying I had a mishap with mine last month something on the head gave way and I had very little control on the way down do more of a controlled crash still a fair amount of damage to the head, the turbine survived
anyhow got a complete pred cnc head assembly for 99 dollars could not believe it 99 dollars £300 over here
all rebuilt now got myself a nice set of rotortech 830 semi symmetrical blades to compliment the new head these fly awesome

..........I want to convert a Predator Gasser to a Turbine machine; that's why I need the conversion kit.

Still flying mine,
Agree it is a nice machine and have really loved flying it.

Like Steph I got any spares from the states, good service fast delivery, just annoying getting clobbered at customs every now and again.

Its done a lot of work, been used in photo shoots, and have found it very versatile when using it as a camera ship.

That's before the hex copters came onto the scene, these days its just a pod and boom turbine.

Enjoy it..

I have extended a few tail booms now and if the stretch is not available I normally turn up a sleeve for the inside and epoxy it in then join both parts together and turn another sleeve for the outside. I have managed to turn them on my lathe to about 0.5mm wall thickness and normally make then from 316 stainless weight is not that much.
Not had any problems yet.
Another option instead of epoxy is loctite retaining compound the green one, they use this all the time at work for holding all different types of sleeve and collars onto shafts and they will not come off.

Hope this helps !!

Extending tail booms

Take a short piece (2" ) of existing tail boom and cut it lengthwise. Use this for the join. If for the insert inside, widen the cut to about 1/8", de-grease and glue this on the inside of the but join.

If you feel you need to reinforce the join, take another length and de-grease/glue on the outside of the Butt join too, but make sure the cuts are 180deg opposed to each other.

I have used this method on many booms without a failure (Just with the insert on the inside!). Make sure the join is at the tail gearbox end not the mechanics end. The forces are much less near the tail.

Hi Steph,

I normally over engineer so I prefer the out sleeve as well :-) I would rather have a few extra grams and not have the tail boom come apart in mid air lol. I don't think you will have a problem with the loctite green it is strong stuff.

Good luck.
