Brand New TBS Disco gone
Fly way ! 4 th day I got to fly . Took it for a trip down back to the pond and started loosing signal on my monitor as I was turning back, got disoriented and hit fail safe go home. It just kept going. New Gopro 3 and all gone. Im so upset Im suck to my stomach. Im done with R/C for a long time now. Definitely no more Quads with Naza v2 GPS. I just re calibrated too when I took off from a different location in the yard just to make sure I was good to go to the pond and back. Too sick to say anymore , dont know why cp is in the title? Too upset to proof read,

This fly away happened to a guy over on the Heli Freak forum in the multicopter section. He is disabled and can't get around much from what he says.He told us that he tried to look for it but without any luck.

If you arm motors with less than 7sats you are asking for trouble always wait for green led to flash all green. before arming and take off.

I lost one this way already hard lesson learned and very Expensive too.

Sorry to hear about your loss but it's happen to a lot of people.

I hear more and more of Naza flyaways. Makes me want to stay clear of them. I'm happy with my 3DRobotics APM 2.6. Very accurate and had almost 30 -40 batteries cycled through it and not a single crash or issues with GPS or failsafes.--Brad Roekle--

Been flying with dji since they came to the States. Have prob a thousand flights on their systems with no issues. Typically what I have seen has been user issues with flyaways. Not saying that is the case here or 100% of the time. That really blows about your quad!!! thats alot of money flying away. hopefully you can figure out what happend any correct it in the future. Or maybe someone will find it. I know people usually get it back if the put up flyers in the area. Good luck hopefully you will get back flying soon.

Also you might have lost radio signal? And fail safe wasn't setup when that happens? That's a very important process to get that worked out. It's different with every system but you should be able to shut off Tx in any mode and have the system kick into failsafe. (Return to home)

Not as awfull as it would be for a person who gets hit by one when it comes down some place uncontrolled. Unless they sue the owner of it for all their worldy possesions.

Hopefully not coming down on a feeway at windscreen height of a fuel tanker.
Or sucked into an Airbus engine on take off.

Who in their right mind ever though it would be safe to fly by WiFi and or GPS.

You guys better enjoy this while its still legal because if this fly away issue keeps up at the same rate pretty soon no-one is going to be flying anything that even looks like an RC aircraft.

States / Counties will act with the blunt instruments of law they have at their disposal to end it.
They will not differentiate between hobbyists or commercial users and FAA will be left wondering what the heck happened.

Hope I'm wrong but I fear not.

So I only watched one of the videos and the first thing that came to mind was " does anyone fly these at actual flying fields?" In the crash 5 videoI was blown away by people flying in remote locations ans even more blown away by people flying over water. This kind of flying in unauthorized locations is going to ruin the hobby for everyone. Dont get me wrong. I have a blade 350qx and love flying it. But I fly it where I am supposed to.James VanHook iKON Flybarless Factory Pilot SAB Heli Devision Rep Goblin 700

quite a bit of multirotor flying isn't for tradition fields. Taking video of things and flying around objects is where they shine, especially for fpv.

I hope we can find a safe way to do it.

We need to take everything in the context its in and not jump to conclusions. I don't like seeing these anymore than anyone else and I am sorry for the loss. If we say that a high percentage of the problems are from people not waiting for the sats to all join hands and sing that is one thing entirely different than a hardware/software problem or glitch to cause a fly away. An impatient person jumping out of the car at a young age 'may' not wait for it fully. I sure agree with many that this is an issue DJI MUST fix. If sats are not fully satisfied then the Naza should not arm. It should be an interlock. Then all flyways are then related to malfunction. If a fly away exist in GPS mode there must be a sequence of control can be regained.

It does make me nervous since I just got a V2 GPS. I will really make sure its happy on start up.

On a side note my bro had a mis hap on his phantom in strong wind. He lost his for some time in a field doing FPV. He said that and it makes sense to engage the wifi on the gopro to give a signal out to our droid phones. Everyone including me has had a wifi anylizer on the phones and may work to ping a signal so at least you could walk toward it with a realitive hot cold game. Rss I believe is used for longitude/latitude as well that a pinpoint position can be put on some gps's devices to walk right to it.

This is something we should all think about on FPV. I don't plan on any passes over tall corn a long ways away soon without an exit plan.

1 thing that can help would be truthful RX RX manufacturers ? i was looking at the dragon link site last night and reading that 72mhz would transmit in 100mW to 3 miles 2.4 is 1 mile and their uhf will go 30 miles put a vid tx next to it and that will reduce to 15 miles according to their data sheet. any how they do sum thing different with range testing they tell you to remove the tx ant and use a dummy loaded ant to range check with and @ 60 ft with dumb ant it should have less then 5 fail safe connections. where are all these dummy loaded ANTS for range checking with our 2.4 newer radios ? and 1 mile on a 2.4 system ?? thats scary with all these dji quads flying fpv with dx6/7/9 Its like at a ball game always watch the game or you liable to get base ball to the face, but in these cases a 300-550 size quad falling out of the sky I totally agree that one should NEVER FLY A MODEL HELI, QUAD, AIRPLANE ON BLUETOOTH/WIFI WHY THAT'S EVEN A OPTION I LL NEVER KNOW, SAME KINDA STUPID-NESS AS USING A TEMPERAMENTAL LITHIUM ION IN THE 787S BATT BOXES ???Trex600n,Trex500,MR25,MikadoLoGo5003d/KDE,Goblin 380XNova,CastleCreations,Ys,JR XG8,Tags Mini XBus Dmss//FAA# FA3NYC9TAP

Thanks to some folks over on the helifreak forum that have donated RC stuff to help him get up and going. I told him to make a list of the things needed and then folks would know what to donate.

Im sorry yea the wifi was meant for those not on frequencies that conflict. I do understand that having that on can cause issues. I should have brought that up.
