How come the align helis don't seem to fail being flown by some of the best pilots in the world?

Yes main gears strip! It's the price you pay for being silly on the sticks with too much pitch and too much gov gain! Align helis are extremely high performance helis running very high head speeds being banged about the sky's in their thousands day after day, yes parts will fail from time to time! Hey I've not heard of any failures on the Avant Mostro, maybe that's the best value 700e at the moment?! (Sarcastic)
60% of the time, it works every time!

I've set up Trex's that fly amazingly smooth and would go forever like that. But, stock, they're more geared for very high performance...which I kinda prefer anyway. Pedal to the metal...OH YEAH. And I find them by far the easiest to maintain.Team POP Secret

My view is the best 700 for the money will be found in the classifieds. New 700 airframes are nice, but electronics will come back to break your budget. If $1400 is the budget, give a look to the helis for sale. Buy from a reputable seller who has years on these sites, and you might be surprised at how well you can do. Have money left for batteries. Maybe a part or two which needs replaced. A fresh canopy of your color choice, or fresh blades of your choosing. First crash, and it's not new any more.Rob

Face it guys there is only 1% of the heli population here that can out fly a Trex700 taking it past its limits and capability.

You dumbasses argue against brands but fail to realize most of you suck at flying, so your opinions mean jack squat.

Unless your an E-freaks pumping 5+ Kilowatts of power or at or near the same caliber of sponsored pilots any average heli-kit (Align, ThunderTiger ect) will do justice.

And no i am not a pro flyer, but a damn near good one and I can say ive never had to buy the latest and greatest nor the most expensive equipment to put meet my flying needs.

Cheers.

that post was kinda strong right?
Well my experience with align V2 gear stripping a few times with 5 different power system setups, all sorts of bracing new and after market frames, I tried them ALL! My 3rd year of flying, these are some of the lucky saves I caught of film. I had about 25 stripped main gears from my align 700 V2 stacked, cross cut black and white ones in about 6 months. Not to mention the heap of TT gears. Flying Align I accepted if you fly like adrenalin you'll pay for it. Well NO MORE ALIGN for me after I tried another brand, the Compass 7HV, same V2 main gear for over 200 flights and crashes on it.
14 collective 12 cyclic on Align 700E, same now on my 7hv.
Fly hard, fly low, fly till she leaves and never comes back.

if your stripping gears with a 700E on standard power setups my guess is you may be running too much clearance between the the main and pinion gears...just my 2 cents.

listening to your 700s spool up you can actually hear that you have too loose of a gear mesh....lots of backlash gear sounds.
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

LOL, I am not rooky to setting up gears, it just last longer when it sounds like that. I tried all sorts of meshing, all sorts of thin and thick papers, tight and loose, even watched videos on meshing gear of all sorts, only gear that held up was KDE's HDS, but a boom strike from Aligns thin flexy boom saw to that gear!
The flights you saw were me trying to fly smooth without breaking the heli, but the fury got the best of me.

Ask Tim Jones,(sorry Tim)he has some stories on why Align is inadequate in all forms. His main gear for his beast sells for $100, he cuts it from billet composite materials and its about an inch thick, his tail gears never hold up past a few flights.

Does not matter how many helis Align has sold, the bottom Align is they do not hold up well, and cost more to repair in the long run.

Hows about an align and a YS 120SR, how long does that last?

Dude, seriously? Your statement could not possibly be more unprovoked and unecessary. If this is all you have to say to people you don't even know, plus the fact that the OP asked nothing at all about skill level, then actually, your opinion is the one that means "jack squat".

In reality, anyone with any level of experience in this hobby can have a valid opinion about this thread regardless of their skill level.

In my experience, the real dumbasses are the ones with the "I'm so awesome" attitude and they fly totally out of their skill level. People like that seem to crash on a routine basis. Afterwards, they always blame the machine or someone else, while never looking at themselves. Most of the time it was a total rekit. All becuase of the same cocky attitude that you seem to have.
And no i am not a pro flyer, but a damn near good one
Sounds to me like "damn near good one" is a fairly relative statement. There's a good chance that you are not as good as you think you are....thats probably because someone who flies better than you thinks that you suck too.

To sum things up, before you go posting generally derogatory statments about other users skill level and intelligence, you should at least be able to back up your claims. But, since you can't, I recommend you STFU. I've been flying helis for over 10 years...I very much doubt you could ever outfly me and my Align machines.

In fact, I would say if you're tearing your machine up doing things that don't involve hitting the ground, that's arguably pilot error also.

If you got a stack of stripped main gears, even without a crash, you're still doing something not quite right. Probably just throwing the sticks around, likely right on the edge of control with a mega overpowered machine, and not really flying it.

For example, pull a pack out of your 700/800 and go fly. See if you can do the same stuff you can do with both packs.

Here's Matt Botos doing 3D on 6S:

That to me is a good indication of a highly skilled pilot.

To be fair to Align, I think they designed there helis to be used as package deal, with there own electronics and not modified ones such bigger motors and faster more powerful servos. It did not strip gears with an Align 750MX.

As for skills, we all have it I think just more practice brings it out.

I speak the truth what can i say. Most folks don't want to hear it so they get mad at me. I'm fine with that, as long as it helps the few that matter.

I'm not trying to take anything away from anyone but I do think the constant comparison of brands is ridiculous, biased opinions, that's all it is.

Put it this way. If the OP wants the BEST 700 for the money it should be a proven and tested model that has the best overall score for:

-kit price
-performance
-reliability
-crash cost
-availability
-quality

That is all.
