I would wait for the Forza700 from JR.(Good Quailty)
I hear the price is competitive with the other 700 sizes out in the market.

From my experience and many others that I know, cheap combo helis(Align)will always crash themselves 8/10 before you do if you fly 3D or Smack. You will end up spending MUCH more if go with a cheap brand Heli(Align). My two cents.
That's a good point

To me, Value has a different meaning for everyone
reliability
accessibility to parts
support for a particular model (local and online)
performance
consistency
price

All play in diferent measures on what value means to an individual.
Is not necessarily the cheapest heli combo, but neither is the most expensive. For one man the Align combo maybe perfect, for other a limited edition Japanese or German model with more expensive components.

Lots of brands available to chose, enjoy the hobby.

How does the eflite blade 700x compare to aligns 700dfc v3?

Decent price on combo & replacements are not to pricey. Horyzon seems to have all parts in stoc too.

Thanks

Luis

I can speak from owning a Nano and 130x, E-Flite/Blade/Horizon make their money off of parts. Blade parts are over priced in my opinion. As a matter of fact, the parts for these two are about the same as the parts for my Protos 500!

Actually the new distributer for MD is "MD Helicopters USA" MD Helis is the original Epic site with the name changed it is still Mike Fortin and not an authorized dealer. It is a subtle difference but a huge difference in who you are dealing with. The new distributer is awesome to deal with unlike the previous who just about destroyed the brand.

They have always been MD but the name Epic was used by the original distributer in the US.

I Just checked them out for the first time. Ok looking heli. Just way overpriced imo.
I don't see a new heli company charging higher prices that JR and lasting very long.

You guys can ignore me though. I am one of those guys that thinks all heli kits are overpriced.

The Gobalign, I mean Align 700

People say things like, "but you get so much value with the Kia Optima". I still don't like it. Feel the same way about the Hyundai Genesis........ Yeah, it's just like a Mercedes Benz

I get the same nausea from Align and Blade helis. I would rather fly anything else just because......

sad but true
Unfortunately with the current economic environment, and people having less disposable income, the difference you are paying in price for a luxury brand more often than not, just paying for the fancy name. The quality of items from what were once considered high-end manufacturers has sadly steadily fallen. As their sales decrease they look for ways to keep their profit margins up and so sacrifices are made. One of the first things that goes is quality because in their eyes that is your problem, not theirs. Especially when you deal with smaller niche products. They will find every way to make up their losses in a way that only effects the end user.
Let's face it. More and more today the kits made by various manufacturers are getting more alike than they are different in terms of quality. Let's stop being rabid fanboys. With most kits once you upgrade bearings or hardware, there are pretty much the same. Blade started as pretty much a toy store level product but are slowing bringing more sophisticated products to market. Align was originally plagued with issues but now there kits don't seem to be lacking much. I've built 3 Align kits and all have been flown frequently without any issues. I built and MA Whiplash gasser. Very nicely machined parts, but when it becomes a wall-hanger because parts aren't made anymore, those nicely machined parts don't mean much.
Right now I have birds form MA, Gaui, Align, and Blade. They all fill their respective roles well. Are their differences in the their design and execution of production? Sure, but they all fly pretty well and all of them let me push their performance envelopes. People love to hate certain brands, especially Align and Blade but I can always walk into my LHS pick up parts and be back up in the air the same day. Unfortunately some manufacturers price their products too high for the local stores to stock their products or for the working class flyer to stock up on parts ahead of time.
It would be nice to drive a Mercedes, but I am willing to bet the price difference isn't justified in build quality as it once was.
When possible shoot first. When that isn't possible shoot fast.

Thunder Tiger E700
I've had Align 700 E and N, Whiplash E and N, Compass 7HV, Synergy E7 and upgraded to SE, Avant Aurora and Mostro coming.
Considering the cost of the airframe only and flight characteristics the Thunder Tiger E700 is the winner by a good margin in my opinion. It is the quietest, lightest and does everything using less mah than the others, and you don't have to take the canopy off to change batteries! They are all good though so you can't go wrong.

Sadly yes, and in many cases the hate is simply fueled by ignorance... In other cases, it is simply the primitive need to repeat that "my stuff is better than yours".

Well you need to look at what everyone is flying at your flying field or area. For example at our flying field, most everyone is flying Gaui helicopters. Quite a few are the X7's too. When everyone showed up one day there was 25 or so Gaui's of assorted sizes and 2 Aligns. So I figure that with the guys that go to all the contests that are like pro's are using Gaui's then there must be something to them. So I would suggest using a Gaui.

of course if money is tight, you could go with a Hobby King Assault 700 and upgrade it over time.

Not so.
I have been an ALL Align pilot for 3 years, so were most of my buddies, thought the many crashes from failures were normal part of flying 3D, then I started flying other brands.

I still have an Align heli, plus tons of Align parts.

My cost on maintenance and repairs for ALL my other helis total less than one of my Align 700E(had V1 and V2 with black gears).

speaking from experience, buy cheap money maker Align once and end up spending 9 times as much as buying a more reliable brand.

Align is no longer a cheap brand IMO.

Consider just how many Trex 700E DFC's there are out there vs. everything else and you still hear of very few problems (that weren't builder/user error) (many many beginners fly Align remember which is takes up a large % of the issues you read about on forums!).
60% of the time, it works every time!

Just done some number crunching using UK prices and the Trex 700E DFC was 12% cheaper on the main crash parts than the Raptor E700. Just saying.60% of the time, it works every time!

I don't understand you guys who can't keep an Align together. My 700E is over 3 years old now; the only parts I've had to replace on it were a stripped main gear, a boom support, a mast and a feathering spindle in its first crash last fall.

Apart from that, it's still running on the parts from the original build.

I don't see any reason not to think my trex 800 won't be a long wearing machine either?
