A major player in the drone aerial photography and video business is looking for drone pilots in many states in the USA, possibly each state if enough pilots are interested and are qualified. We have been quietly in the industry for years. We have an over flow of work in the sense that there are many jobs with no distant travel budget that we are ignoring and loosing out on but im hoping we can fill the gap. We have after many years enough connections and leads to put some small aerial photo or video jobs mostly real estate sometimes a independent film, occasionally something better. Most jobs are a few hundred dollars and are simple and quick, but could be more. Dont want to get your hopes up but sometimes it can be in the thousands. Its not a get rich gig by no means but it could be a source of extra income from time to time and hopefully increasing as the future unfolds.

I believe I will keep the requirements simple. You must fly a DJI Evo s800 (not the old s800) with any zenmuse camera mount and according HD camera for stills and video. Some exceptions will be made if your setup is even better, like skyjib, freelfy, photoshipone systems ect. Sorry no phantoms for primary copter will be accepted, no airplanes, no helicopters. We will accept phantoms as a back up copter, it must have 2 or 3 axis brushless gimbal using GoPro 3 or better at 1080p.

You must not be one of those people prone to crashing. Your attitude must be that crashing is NOT an option.

You should have at least 3 years of flying experience, 2 years at least doing aerial media for FPV fun or work. I am looking for gifted pilots with special abilities. My first priority is safety. I need safe cautious thoughtful professional pilots. No showing up at a job with your wife and kids. Respectful.

You must be willing to travel at your own expense within your state or area to do perform the aerial jobs within a week of a call sometimes less.

SUBMIT ALL OF THE FOLLOWING BY PM ONLY TO APPLY ----------

You must have a HD video reel to show, (submit one video only please) choose your best one!

You must have some aerial photos online somewhere to show, submit a link.

You need a nice neat downlink monitor on a tripod so you and the client can view the aerial feed live.

If you have insurance for remote aerial photography thats a plus.

If you have a real pilots license thats a plus.

Must have at least 3 professional references, past aerial jobs BIG PLUS. Provide details/name/email/phone if possible/website if possible of reference.

Please submit your website if you have one.

Please submit you contact info, cell phone and email, tell us your zip code.

Tell us a little about your self, how are your a safe pilot, and your passion for flying. What makes you special for this job. Thank you.

Flying your heavy and expensive monster airframe with a Z15 and traveling at your own cost, all this for a few hundred USD? Is US economy really that broken? In every third world country (okay, make that BRICS or similar) the rates are higher, at typically 2k USD per day.

Yeah, I suppose if one was starting out and bought $20K worth of gear and needed work, one would go this route. It's another thing to buy that much gear and let someone else get the bulk of the fees.

These guys look like they want to pay for pilots, but not their gear. I would gladly do a job for $200 or $300 per day, but you provide the equipment and insurance.

True, it says "I am looking for gifted pilots with special abilities". No mention of a camera operator. Maybe the untrained (?) client is supposed to operate the Z15. But then why does the pilot need to have a "HD video reel to show" if operating the camera and doing the video editing is the client's task?

Over here every noob with a Phantom shooting ugly fisheye photos for the lowest-quality market segment has higher rates. No way anyone with the requested setup would travel and do the work for a couple hundred USD.

Funny you mention that. I just did a video shoot for a Cable TV show on Outdoor Network that covers the shooting sports. The job was done on the low end, so I took the S800/Zenmuse bird down to the location by myself and had the production company camera guys operate the Z15. It took them a couple flights to get used to how to operate a remote camera system, but eventually they caught on. Some "quick jobs" may not afford the time to train a camera operator on site. Not to mention the wasted daylight and aircraft time. The advantages of having the Production Company provide a camera operator are low overhead for the aircraft operator, and the production company cameraman gets exactly what he wants as far as shot placement and transitions. In the future, I intend to continue this model of operation for this particular company, now that they know how to operate the camera system.

Aerial Work
Yes I agree with these requirements pay has to be worth it. I actually have all of these requirements and far beyond. I have done aerial work for a company and loved it. I didn't mind the travel and I love to fly but it was only $100.00 and tops $200.00 to be gone all day and this money was suppose to cover travel and all your time. I had a vacation planned for over a year and at the last minute the company booked something with 3 days notice. I said I couldn't do it and an individual went behind my back and hired people in my RC club. After a very short time they quit because of the high demand and zero pay and I'm sure there was no contract. This company turned out to have insurance issues or lack of. My attorney took care of the legal issues with a contract but they didn't want to sign it without a large problem. Very unprofessional. This job is all about liability. Everyone must be protected. In my opinion you should have at least 10 years flying and the skills to back it up. The problem is now anyone can buy a quadcoptor with a GoPro and they think they know what they are doing. Great job but low pay.
