I just want to get some opinions on this. I have 7 helis with Vbars in them, and I am seeing this issue on only one of them. I have set up an additional 8 Vbars for others. Again this issue is unique to only one out of all that I have worked with.

This particular one is a silver line and it is mounted in a Goblin 700 on the bottom of the aluminum main frame in the specified sensor mounting position. The issue I am seeing is that after I go through the full setup procedure, when I complete the setup and get the gyros active, I have a slow tail pitch that drives the tail blades to full right. I can move the tail blades to full left, and as soon as I center the rudder stick, the blades will begin to slowly move back to the right.

I am using the same TX (DX9) with solid sat antenna indications, Torque 9188 tail servo, 11ms frame rate, as I do in all my other helis, and getting 98/100 on the tail setup values.

I also want to add that this is the one heli that I haven't been able to get dialed in in flight. I keep getting strange abberations in flight. I am running an ICE 2 160a CC in set rpm mode with a gov gain of 8.

Any ideas as to whether this is an indication of a sensor problem, or a tail servo problem? At this point, I am looking to pull the sensor out, and mount it upright on the gyro mounting plate above the boom attach point.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

You sure subtrim is at 0 and end points at +100 and -100, for this channel? This is usually the cause.

Hi,

Sounds like you have a bad V-bar. Post a thread on vstab.info and the may tell you to return the V-bar.

Seeing that you have a number of them handy, swap silver line sensors with one of your other helis. If the problem goes away, then you found the problem and can rule out any settings in the vbar or your Tx causing the issue.

Actually my TX subtrim is set at rt 2 to get the Vbar center to indicate zero. My TX endpoints (travel)is 99 and 101 to get the Vbar travel to +/- 100.

It's not the vbar.. It's the DX9.. When it does it, click the trim the opposite direction and it will stop. Don't forget to trim it back before you fly it though. I noticed mine is doing the same thing with 2 different vbars. I recently switched to the DX9 from a JR 11x.. I will probably switch back.

It shouldn't do it in flight.. Just FYI .. I haven't tried to t/s it yet, it may be because I have not set center in the vbar.

Turn up your dead zone in your tail advanced tab. For my 12x, I had to change it from 5 to 10 to get rid of any small creep in either direction. You could turn up your tail stick tension to help it completely center as well.

I had thought it might be the Tx, but I am using it on all the other models, and this one is the only one that does it.

Crap, got more to worry about now. Was gonna swap the blueline sensor with the silverline one that I put in another heli. While trying to get to the silverline sensor, I had both helis on the workbench and knocked the Goblin off the bench onto the floor, right on its head. SOB (not crying)

So, by any chance, did that solve the problem?

Sounds like you have trim (not sub trim) enabled on your tx. Disable them if you can..

Don't know if it was the fall or what. I did get the sensor swapped and in general went back through the whole heli and rebuilt it.

What I've done is to change the location of the sensor to the top of the plate supplied with the kit, and mount the main Vbar controller under it on the bottom. It definitely cleans up the wiring as I had it before, and now my tail isn't drifting like it was before.

I also tried to swap back to the blue sensor, and now I get no drifting with it either. Strange?? Don't know what was causing that, but everything is looking good with no adverse log messages, so gonna give it a flight try tomorrow, hopefully, as the wx is supposed to be good.

Yeah, sometimes a good knock in the head solves a lot of problems.
