I have been flying helis for some time now but I am still in the dark ages with flybar. I was wondering what you guys are doing with adjustments to parameters in the Phoenix flight Sim.

I know you have standard, passive, active and coaxial along with the gain, stability...ect parameter adjustments. Having not flown a flybarless heli are the default settings correct for a true feel or do you guys make adjustments to the parameters. Frankly, I can't tell much difference in the feel of the stock settings compared to a flybarred heli.

I fly 600 size helis as well as a raptor 30. I have had Trex, Vibe, Raptor and John Beech's Pantera. I now fly a Trex 600N as well as the Raptor 30. I have a flybarless Trex 600N built with everything but the FBL controller (waiting to decide which one to buy, thinking about the HC3SX).

Thank you for your input.

The only thing I do to the flybarless 700 3g in Phoenix is set 20.00 expo on aileron, elevator and rudder works well for me.

Thank you for the reply.

I was just curious if there were settings that should be changed just like you can on the actual controller to get a better flybarless feel.

When the fbl 700 3G was first released I was able-to get my hands-on a buddy's Phoenix Sim.,

I changed ;
Head-speed (to give it more POP)
Servo-speed
Rudder-gain in the fbl unit (to help with the added HS)
Expo in the TX.

I have also done this to many-of the knife-edge files for my own RF Sim. (Main-blades can make a difference too).

You can definitely fine-tune almost any Heli (or Plank) to your liking

Like you have indicated, it is very fun to experiment with the parameters in the simulators with helis and planks. It is also a good learning experience to make modifications just to see what the results will be. You could not use them to prove or disprove aeronautical theory. But within reason, due to the physics programed into Phoenix and Realflight, the lay person can learn a lot for the money.
Realflight use to aggravate me with planks. At low speed the stall characteristics were not even close to real life. Beginners would come out to the field thinking you could drag a plank in to land at air speeds far below the stall speed but there was not a reset button out at the field to push.

I agree with you on the stall-characteristics on the RF Sim. and also in actual-flight. I was always taught to bring 'em in kinda' HOT just to keep from stalling.

I don't do much "tweeking" with the Planks in my RF Sim. the only one I really like is that Russian Mig29 with Thrust-vectoring, I love being able-to do low-level inverted Fly-by's at Full-speed

It's a good-idea to check the servo-speed, head-speed(s) (in all Flight-modes) when you first download a new Sim.-model. I was quite-surprised at how low / slow these were with most-of my knife-edge models.
