Has anybody had this happen? I did a hard stop with a little overspeed and lost my tail.

I have been following it there also. Looks like TT will be upgrading that gear in the near future. Hopefully!

If they do, it would still be $300 too late for me without even including the canopy which has some damage but can be fixed.

My son won an E700 at our fun fly last November. I'm wanting to put it together but I keep seeing how this gear is causing issues.

Just wondering........since there are no reports of this happening on the Nitro G4.1, has anybody checked to see if that gear will work on the E700?

I was wondering the same thing but I didn't want to take my g4 apart. I wouldn't let that gear stop you from building. This heli is awesome! Just make sure you watch the gear and if you tap the tail on the ground just replace it. Only costs 1.69. I will still replace mine with the new gear and would gladly pay $3.00

I beat mine pretty hard tail wise doing a lot of hard reversals trying to get it to fail I think it might be a bad mold or somthing because even after a crash where my tail blades were shredded the gears were fine

On the other hand it did trash all 4 frames found a week point in the design but it's also a reason it's so light. There isn't much to keep the frames ridged so in the right crash the hex parts will bend and brake frames bc there is nothing to provide horizontal rigidity under the aileron and pitch servo assuming they left out this too keep it light because there isn't much to provide vertically ridged also. Just a thought

The g4 gear won't work. It's just a little different.
We have several flying around here,.. since the first ones arrived just before IRCHA jamboree last year. We have not had any tail gear issues.

Gear issue
Hey guys, I do want to chime in as well regarding this gear issue. I was concerned at first when I heard a few people having this happen, and then I did break one gear as well. However, I'm pretty sure I know what caused my failure. My gear broke on an overspeed during an auto, and my the tail gain for the "auto" flight mode was too high and tail bounced like crazy for a second before gear broke. Since I was in an auto, I just completed it without the tail, and no loss.

I can't speak for everyone else that has had this happen, but since replacing the gear, I have had 100+ flights on this machine, with no problems with this gear failing again. Even OP reported the gear breaking in an overspeed, and I wonder if it was in a similar situation as mine, causing the high tail gain wag, just long enough to break the gear..

Anyway, just my take on the situation. Anyone on the fence, I would like to reassure you and suggest you give the heli a try as it flies amazing and is just a blast! I think the gear issue is something you will not unlikely run into, and one precaution you can take is to avoid the overspeed/high tailgain situation at least.

If it broke because of the over speeding than the quality is bad period, bottom line is that this is a week point in this heli and it needs to be fix period.

I broke one, fixed it and still fly the E700 every chance I get. It feels a couple pounds lighter than my trex 700. Fly it. You will love it!

Just to be clear, I don't think mine broke due to the overspeed. The overspeed caused a aggressive tail wag due to my tail gain being set too high in that flight mode. I feel the tail wag caused the gear to break. Since then I have had overspeed situations many times without any issue.

I hate to hear people having failures, but since I replaced the gear, I have not had any more problems myself. I have pushed the machine pretty hard for a lot of flights, and it has been a great machine.

Yeah I too fly pretty hard myself and after a failure is hard to trust it again, it cost me over $400 to repair. I did not have my gains set so high to get a fast aggressive tail wag like the one you described and yet it failed.

But it failed, any way Thunder Tiger must upgrade all their gears to the black gears like Align did, this problem where found in all Align helis, I was stripping the white cheaply gears very easy, I will not order this heli with this funny cheapy white gears.

More for me!! Everyone acts like if there is an issue with something it should be fixed that same day.. Well you mite be glad to know that's not going to happen.. I'm sure you will see a fix soon.. Probably need to figure out for sure what the cause is before throwing money at something that may or may not fix it.. As for me I'm happy with all my TT products... And as for quality, Id say TT's quality is probably some of the best stuff on the market. Oh an my gear is still doing great!!

I haven't had any issues with any of my gears on my e700. Not saying it's the cause of problem, but make sure the gears are all properly shimmed.
