Bind Plug Access Align 250 Pro DFC
I am in the middle of building my first Align T-Rex 250 Pro DFC. Because it's a smaller kit, it is extremely hard to reach the bind plug pins on my 3GX gyro. I installed a SPST toggle switch from Radio Shack (part #275-0645) just above the gyro in the frame wall. This way, I can always flip the switch and put the receiver in bind mode, bind the heli, then flip the switch back when it's bound.

Good Idea, I have seen some just run an extension from the bind plug on the RX to a point where it is easy to access.Bill Whittaker

On installations where bind plug access is difficult, I use my crimpers and connector stuff and simply make a short extension, then mount it where I can easily plug in the bind jumper. Light weight, no moving parts, and no holes to drill.-----

I agree with Wrongler and Dave, just use a short servo extension to give easier access.
Less chance of accidentally entering bind mode.

Modification to Bind Plug
I found out that I agreed with R/C Speed Nut and the bind plug switch was too easy to flip. I modified the design of the switch by tying two momentary switches in a row and placing them on opposite sides if the frame as indicated in the photo below. Now, in order to place the heli in bind mode, I have to depress both plugs simultaneously. Works great!

That's a lot of extra stuff to replace a simple extension for a task that rarely needs to be performed in the first place.-----

Problem is the 3GX Gyro. Version 4.0 does not work well and I am having to re-program, re-bind and re-setup frequently. This was my solution. I know it's a lot of extra stuff (and a few grams more in weight), but it relieved my frustration!

You don't have to rebind each time you change 3GX software.

If you're having trouble with the gyro function of V4.0, install V3.1, go through the DIR stuff, the rudder setup, and the throttle/gov calibration step and go fly. It's easy that way.

Once you bind the RX and have set your failsafe, you don't need to redo it each time.

Thanks for that information, dkshema! It makes a huge difference in the way I've been approaching the problem.
