Sounds great Ray!
Hey just a quick note, the 300 is going to use more fuel than the 27 so if its slowing down or losing some power you might want to richen it up a bit and see if that helps.

Anyways sounds like that is exactly what happened and when you cracked the needles I expect you meant you went richer which his good.

Just wanted to take a moment to say this and have a ball with it!

Hey Raja, actually [and after talking to Al at Hanson's] the RC300 gets way better fuel mileage than the 270 & 290 motors. Al has no reason why. My Trex heli has a roughly 17 ounce tank, as a nitro heli, I can get 7-1/2 flights per gallon. I fill the tank with 15-16 onces of fuel, each flight (I've had two of them now) was 20 minutes with a rich setting. So that comes out to 1.25 minutes per ounce.
Anyways sounds like that is exactly what happened and when you cracked the needles I expect you meant you went richer which his good.
No, I went lean. The very first flight/first run, the low needle was set to 1-3/8 turns out, and the high needle was set to 1-1/2 turns out...per the instructions. About half way through the first flight (~10 minutes) the motor changed sounds, more of a richer/blubbery sound. So on the second flight, I cracked both needles about an 1/8 of a turn. The second flight produced more power with a slight temp increase on the gauge. That is where I will leave it for a few more flights. I am breaking in this motor per Al. And Al has told me to fly two tanks heat cycling, then tune and rip on that motor! The whole time using Pennsoil mixed at 32:1.
Absolutely beautiful job with the build. Sounds like an awesome maiden. I knew that you would love it. It's only going to get better!!!

Thanks Pete! I'm already loving it...now what to do with all that flight time?!

Thanks turboomni! It looks better with a canopy on...I'll have to upload some of those pics. However, the canopy is the stock funky yellow canopy. It works, but I would like something a little better! In time I'll find the right canopy for it.

Interesting... First person I ever heard use the word crack to mean closing or leaning the needle. Usually 'crack' indicates open as in 'crack the door open'

Mark took me to the ER after the second flight for a possible grinectomy...the proceedure failed several times. It baffled the doctors, so now I have to wear it off...until the next flight! If it gets any bigger, I might loose the upper half of my head!

Ah...let's see...bring my Trex700G to IRCHA this year?...umm........YES! And I'll bring my Whippy. That maybe the only heli's I'll need this year!

I do need to find a really nice/cool/somewwhat kickbutt canopy for it! But I'm not sure which ones will fit...I know the V1 canopy fits, somewhat tight. Will the DCF electric/nitro's fit?

Adam,
Thanks for the offer. Sunday is family day for me so I wouldn't be able to make it. Keep me posted on the days you might go flying and if I can make it I will make arrangements and meet you.
Thanks!
