Check out the program tonight. We'll see how badly CBS can foul this topic up. None of these news outlets have a clue.

Prolly won't even watch it. Most of it is just a bunch of jibberish coming from the mouths of ppl that are clueless. And even if you gave them a dog and named it clue they still wouldn't have one

Chet was right....comedy all the way. Morley was clearly impressed and it was painfully obvious that Senator Feinstein was too lazy to get off her ass and go to see this tech personally instead she relies on the filter of her staff telling her what they think she needs to think.

Not a bad use of 10 minutes but I'm sure DJI will benefit immensely.

Yep, the exact same thing that is happening with Gun Control by these complete idiots who know nothing about them, yet feel they should debate and regulate the same topics. Don't ask experts about the subject, no..they just blindly make **** up.

They said probably 10 times in the episode how dangerous these "Drones" are while viewing a phantom 1 and 2. Spying on people outside your window! Really? Clearly, you have never had a Phantom 2 fly next to you...they are loud, very loud.

What I did like, is there were some positives of them showing off some great photos and capabilities for photographers/videographers.

That was a positive but just like gun debate our lawmakers are woefully out of touch.

Yep, I agree.

I love my phantom 2. The FAA needs to get their act together. There are tons of businesses and new business that can benefit from this technology.

I have a feeling, this will be EXACTLY like gun control. The government can use them however they want, but you can't. Oh wait, you can...if you register it (fee) and get a license (FEE)

Gave me a very edgy feeling about the + or - loss of civil liberties;

It is what it is - Specialy the mention's of " Who's " hand By Fienstien - Here come possible Uber regulation then in Who's favor of controlling freedom liberty and independence.

We all are being watched - The New World - Cyber to credit card's ect.

What's Next ??? Very easy to abuse the power they have assumed.

There needs to be a balance!

On one hand many business can take advantage of the tech.

On the other hand are the clowns that want to do bad things with this tech. There are also the good people who do something bad because they didn't know it was bad to do.

I agree, there needs to be some sort of regulation to at lease assure that people are proficient in flying these things especially in public settings.

Unfortunately I have dealt with many good people who do stupid things with tech because they just "didn't know". This is a technology where not knowing can be very dangerous.

Just my opinion.

It's funny that all the drones out there now and we haven't heard of people doing bad things with them.... yet.

Yet it's the first thing everyone says. Next "drones" will be spying on people just like "guns" kill people. LOL

Just sad that all the reports are always the same ole crap and never refreshing or filled with hope and positives. Never talk about filming movies, commercials, inspections and other legit uses.

Oh well, one of these days they will get it right.

You bring up a good point Mike...its people who can shoot people and people who can spy on other people...

The point is we now have a new condenser in society...one one hand it a cool toy with lots of business potential...the next it can be used to harm some one (or some group of people) some how.

I let a lot of things fly but in this case I see the potential both positive an negative and man the negatives really scare me.

Are you kidding Mike. What about the person flying drugs into the prison someone was telling about. Here in Iowa a guy was at the Capitol building with one. Granted he wasn't hurting anything but still nothing like going right up to the law makers and making it obvious. Then he went to a glass building and was filming ppl inside through the windows. Huh nothing like asking for it wouldn't you think? Well guess what now they are solving them deals right in the very building he made it obvious around. You can't actually believe nobody has not done things to bring this all up as it is happening everywhere. I agree with the gun control comment as the guns won't hurt anyone without humans involved and the problem is the good ppl will pay for the ones that do this stupid stuff and this is no different. Ppl can rant all about them regulating this but it will happen just because of ppl thinking they are above and beyond anyone and anything else and can do what ever they want. If you haven't noticed the whole country is all about me me and me on the roads and stores and everywhere else no matter what.

Sorry, I have to disagree with most of the negatives.

I have a concealed carry gun permit, and I'll use the same quote I'm sure most of you have heard. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

This technology, cannot do harm... people do and will, regardless of what regulations they plan to create and/or enforce.

What would be a good idea, is to get the AMA involved, and if there are training requirements or requisites to fly unmanned aircraft, let them create and provide this. After all, this technology came from the RC world, including the same drones that are now used by the government. Multi-rotors are not a new thing, they have been out for years, and only recently become so popular because more and more people are seeing how incredible these things really are, and the technology is there now to do it.

One of my co-workers just bought a phantom 2 after seeing some of the videos I've created with mine.

The bottom line is, there are sick people in the world, and they are going to harm others. Regulating this hobby, will only harm the people into this hobby, it will prevent nothing (like Gun control).

I have a concealed permit also. I know what you are saying and maybe I didn't put it in the same way. Problem is ppl will use them to do stupid things. That is why it is happening. Fortunately for those of us with the permits the NRA is very powerful. Hopefully the AMA can do for us but I am afraid they don't carry the weight of the NRA

I have to agree, the AMA has to take the lead but they can't give in either. The FAA looks at this like it's an airspace issue and they will try to protect all of their large corporate friends too. We, the modeler look at this situation completely different and our view isn't remotely shared by the Feds.

We all are being watched
so happens more by Mark Suckerberg and the bored to death people at Fecebook trying to spot trends and collect data for sale to corps.

I caught the very last 10 seconds with the quad being chased by the dog. You have to hand it to 60mins to reduce the paranoia of small quads to view it as nothing more than a mere dogs toy. The little quads flown in the park are NOT the "Drones" with cahones to hunt and destroy as they are commonly being portrayed by "Quicky" media.
