Jan's newest creation...more pics!
I know it will be a long wait, and I said I didn't want a speed machine...
BUT, I'm now on the list.

How freaking beautiful is this?

Chet, I knew you couldn't resist...lol. Seriously though. The TDR is what sold the TDS well before anyone ever saw it. Then......we got to see it. I imagine I won't see mine until middle to late next year since I just got on the list back in August.

Ronald, is a 700, it's just extremely narrow.

I know, I might be too old to fly it by the time I get one...
But building it will be pure enjoyment.

from jamin_00 on the other site:

There are only 2 models.

Quote from Jan

"There will be two models.

First: the new TDSpeed model with a complete carbon fuselage which includes the new mechanic with all this new features which I have showed at the Rotor live.

Second: the TDR II (successor of the TDR) which will be a pot and boom helicopter with a two blade rotor. For this one I will use the new TDS-mechanic with only some necessary changes.

At first I have to make some test flights and than I will give some more detailed informations about every thing."

Heck, looking at it will be pure enjoyment, not to mention flying it!

Not for sure, it appears to be in testing though, with the 3 blade head like the TDS, as a possible option. I saw a couple of pics is all.
Maybe someone could watch the videos from Rotor Live and translate them...we would know more.

Edit: Thanks Jason...obviously more current info than I.

Translation/Cliff notes of the videos from Dr dremel on the other site:
What I could understand (crappy audio):

- linear servo idea is from 10yrs ago. The solution with the hollow shaft was pure luck as it was in the perfect location for the elevator linkage. Hollow shaft diameter is 12mm.

- mechanics are identical to the new TDR minus 3 blade head. However it´s not clear at this point if the TDR will be TT or belt, depending on the experiences with the TDS prototypes. If TT, then it will have a palloid tooth system, but he speaks much in favor of the belt because of gearing options.

- suggested HS on the TDS is 1800-2600

- mechanics layout is to reduce width, but especially height as much as possible. mechanics are tilted 8deg forward (no reference point given). The belt twists not in the boom but after it enters the first pulley on the mechanics. This is to be able to tilt the boom.

- the fat gear is the 2nd stage gear (scrambled dimensions sorry) to keep up with increasing power demand, but also the 1st stage is 5mm thicker than current TDR.

- TDS fuselage is designed with an angle of 30deg tilted forward. Square sections are wing profiles throughout. On the back of the "dog house" will be a service panel.

- asymmetrical wing profile tail fin

- as this is a special machine in a limited market price will be 2.700-3.000€. New TDR around 1.400.

- main gear wil be available in different sizes for the TDR, gear ratio up to 15:1 (not clear what gear he specifically speaks of, but not the pinion)

- motor on the TDS "850", on the TDR "750"

- TDS tailored for 2x7S 4400 Gens Ace size batteries

- There were already a bunch of people waiting for a TDS, so it´s not sure if someone ordering now will get the heli this year.

And please stop the photoshop butchering. PS is not a 3D program, extracting reference points from a photo without dimensions is pointless. :cheers

I'm on the fence about this one... The Diabolo S is awesome because Gerd took his proven mechanics.. Beefed them up.. And made a speed machine out of it. This thing is all new.. To include that belt driven elevator.. There are some really cool innovations on this thing. We always want new, and that's what this is... All new.. Which is a little scary too. It's gonna be in the 2700-3000 euro range which is 4 grand. I'm not out.. But I've not claimed my spot on the list either, that price tag is scaring me away. That being said.. If it's not going to start heading out of Germany until next spring.. I'm in... Lol.. The shock of the he S should wear off by then and I'll want another to build. Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

When Jan puts it into production, you can be sure it will be proven, to him at least, and that's good enough for me.

Just because you get on the list, doesn't mean you are obligated...just sayin'
I wouldn't be surprised if it were late 2015 before my name comes up.

What Chet said. You get on the list and he emails when yours is coming up. If you want it, you pay, if you don't, the next person will.

Jan has been doing this for 25+ years I think. It will work, and work exceptionally, or he won't sell it. The TDR came out in 09, and last year was the first time where the was primarily no waiting list.

What I posted above is about the most that I've seen. Jan has been very tight lipped about it, and still hasn't released many details, and probably went until they are fully ready to go.I am serious.....and don't call me Shirley.

I've just been reading the thread in the Main Discussion forum on the other site (I don't ever read that forum there - just Henseleit and Kontronik) lots of info, lots of BS also
It seems that the mechanics may have been flown in a pod & boom configuration, but not sure about the fuse.

The lower chin on the canopy looks to me like there might be more there than just a TDR.

Could be, but from what I've read, the consensus is that it's TDR test bed for the 3 blade head and swash. I think I read that team Henseleit was flying them at Rotorlive. Hell, I wasn't there, so I cannot prove any of this, and that could have been the TDR 2 and they just told people it was a TDR. Lol

It looks like the TDR speed canopy, though. I think it's the paint job that makes it look different but maybe not.

Yeah, it's all guesswork on my part for sure!
Fun to speculate though.
The TDR-2 would be much more my style, but that fuse is just too much.

The TDR2 is almost nothing but speculation(regarding it's layout) At least the TDS has been seen and we know what it looks like! I sure don't need something like the TDS either, but.....I am serious.....and don't call me Shirley.
